Blizzard says the combination let Cassidy reposition too effectively to eliminate targets. The change applies to that specific interaction—not to every way the two heroes can play together.
What changed in the Overwatch patch?
In its October 6, 2026 Overwatch Retail Patch Notes, Blizzard changed Cassidy’s High Noon ability so he can no longer attach to Jetpack Cat’s Lifeline while the ultimate is active. The listed change reads: “High Noon * Now prevents attaching to Jetpack Cat’s Lifeline.”

Before the change, Lifeline could let Cassidy reposition during High Noon. After the patch, that attachment is prevented in this situation.
Why did Blizzard change the Cassidy–Lifeline interaction?
Blizzard’s Cassidy developer comment explains the balance rationale: “Lifeline can create unique interactions with several ultimates, but its combination with High Noon has proven too powerful at repositioning Cassidy to eliminate targets. High Noon will now prevent Cassidy from attaching to Lifeline. We will continue evaluating other interactions on a case-by-case basis.”

Can Cassidy still team up with Jetpack Cat?
The patch note removes only Cassidy’s ability to attach to Lifeline while using High Noon. It does not say that Lifeline has been removed, that all Cassidy–Jetpack Cat interactions are disabled, or that the heroes cannot otherwise cooperate. Blizzard says it will assess other ultimate-and-Lifeline interactions individually.
