Overclock AMD RX 580: Best Settings to Enhance Performance

There is no universal best overclock for every RX 580. Learn how to use AMD Software’s tuning controls carefully, test stability, and avoid treating another card’s factory settings as your own target.

There is no universal best manual overclock for every AMD RX 580: available controls and stable settings depend on the specific card and system. Use AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition to tune gradually, monitor temperatures and stability in the games or applications you use, and be prepared to restore defaults; no cited source establishes a guaranteed performance gain or universally safe clock or voltage target.

Overclocking beyond stock specifications carries risk of hardware damage or failure and may void applicable warranties. AMD states that users assume risks including hardware damage, reduced performance, or data loss; read AMD’s Performance Tuning and Metrics information before proceeding.

What settings can you adjust on an RX 580?

AMD documents GPU frequency states, voltage, memory frequency and timing, fan controls, and a power-limit slider for supported configurations. The exact options depend on the GPU and system. AMD’s tuning guide illustrates Adrenalin 23.9.1 on an RX 7900 XTX, so its screenshots and available controls may not match your RX 580.

Do not treat another card’s factory clock mode as a recommended manual overclock. For example, MSI lists its RX 580 GAMING 8G at 1366 MHz in OC mode, 1353 MHz in Gaming mode, and 1340 MHz in Silent mode. Those are modes for that specific model, not universal targets for all RX 580 cards.

What to compare Why it matters
Your exact board model and its listed clock modes RX 580 variants have different manufacturer specifications; do not assume one model’s settings apply to another.
Stability in your usual games or applications A setting is useful only if the workloads you rely on run reliably.
Temperature, clock behavior, and fan noise These help you judge the trade-offs while the GPU is under load.
Power use and power-limit behavior Changing a limit may affect headroom, but does not guarantee a performance improvement.

How to tune an RX 580 cautiously

  1. Open AMD Software, search for “Tuning,” and select “Performance Tuning.” Check which controls are available for your card and software configuration. You can use global tuning or a game profile.
  2. Record how the card behaves at its current settings, including temperature, clock behavior, and fan noise under a familiar workload.
  3. Change one control at a time and use small adjustments. AMD’s legacy WattMan guidance recommends small voltage increments and stability testing; do not assume a particular voltage or clock is safe for your card.
  4. Apply the change, then run a game or application you actually use while monitoring stability and temperatures. Treat this as a check of your own system, not a guarantee that the setting will work in every workload.
  5. If you see crashes, visual artifacts, or undesirable heat or noise, undo the latest change or use Reset to restore defaults. Save a profile only when you are satisfied with the behavior.

Is there a safe “best” RX 580 overclock?

The cited manufacturer sources do not establish a universally safe RX 580 clock, voltage, power-limit percentage, thermal target, or expected performance gain. Use the specifications and software limits for your precise card, and prioritize stable operation over a particular number.

FAQ

Does every RX 580 have the same overclock settings?

No. AMD says available tuning options can vary by GPU and system configuration, and manufacturers publish model-specific specifications and modes. Check your exact card in AMD Software and consult its manufacturer’s specifications.
