Open USD (OUSD) is a live U.S.-dollar stablecoin launched by Open Standard on September 30, 2026. Issued by Bridge, a Stripe company, it is designed for business payments, settlement and related financial services. Businesses can access it through participating providers and supported networks, but that does not mean every international transfer is instant, universally available or free from end to end.
What Open USD is—and what “instant” does not guarantee
Open USD, abbreviated OUSD, is a business-focused digital token intended to represent U.S. dollars. Open Standard describes it as infrastructure for banking, cross-border payments, settlement and institutional trading. Those are the operator’s stated uses, not independent evidence of payment speed, reliability or savings.

Open Standard identifies Bridge, a Stripe company, as OUSD’s issuer. The launch announcement says reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY, and that monthly reserve attestations will be published. The announcement does not include the first attestation, so the reserve composition and results of an attestation cannot be assessed from that announcement alone.

“Instantly” should be read as promotional framing, not a promise about every payment’s full journey. A stablecoin transfer may be only one stage: a business may still need a provider to accept or convert funds, route a payment, and deliver spendable currency to a recipient. The available company materials do not establish a universal end-to-end settlement time or guarantee that a recipient can immediately use local fiat.

How a business could use OUSD for cross-border payments
The potential benefit is a digital dollar that participating services can move or use across supported networks. In a business payment flow, OUSD might serve as the asset held or transferred between a funding source and a payout or settlement service. Whether that simplifies a particular payment depends on the providers available to both parties, supported currencies and networks, and the recipient’s ability to convert or spend the funds.
Open Standard lists integrations involving Stripe/Bridge, Mastercard, Coinbase and Visa. It describes a broader set of services across those routes, including payment orchestration, settlement, wallets, cards, foreign exchange, conversion, custody and on- and off-ramps. The listed services should not be read as a promise that every provider offers every feature, or that a given feature is available in every country.

Stripe and Bridge
Stripe says businesses can receive, hold, send and spend OUSD. Its announced uses include Global Payouts and Issuing, and accepting OUSD through Payments. These features may let a business connect OUSD to payment and treasury workflows within Stripe’s services, subject to the relevant product’s eligibility and terms.
Other listed integration routes
Open Standard also names Mastercard, Coinbase and Visa as integration partners. Its materials place these integrations within the broader payments and financial-services ecosystem, but do not establish a single, identical OUSD feature set across the three. A business should confirm the specific service, supported network, geography, settlement currency and provider terms before designing a workflow around any one route.

Networks, conversion and fees to check
Open Standard identifies four networks with native OUSD support:
- Base
- Ethereum
- Solana
- Tempo
Native support on these networks does not by itself mean that a business can send OUSD directly between all four without additional steps, or that a wallet or service supports each network. Confirm that the sender’s and recipient’s providers support the same network and that the intended deposit and withdrawal paths are available.

Open Standard says its listed integration paths support minting and burning at a 1:1 U.S.-dollar conversion with no fee. Stripe likewise says OUSD has no minting or burning fees and describes transaction fees as low and predictable. These are company and provider terms—not a guarantee that a payment has no total cost. Network transaction fees, provider charges, foreign-exchange conversion, payout fees or other costs may affect the complete transaction; check the applicable terms for the exact route and destination.
Availability and operational checks before adopting OUSD
Open Standard says access is subject to geographic restrictions, prohibited-use rules and provider terms and eligibility. Calling the network global does not establish that a particular business, recipient, country or payout corridor is supported.

What the wider stablecoin market data can—and cannot—show
Visa’s 2026 reporting offers context for why payment networks are exploring stablecoin-linked services, but its figures are not OUSD adoption or performance data. Visa said approximately 17% of stablecoin-linked card volume in FY26 year to date occurred across business and commercial card programs, based on VisaNet data and its internal card-program classifications. Visa also reported more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs in its ecosystem and nearly 200% year-over-year growth in payments volume across those programs.
Separately, Visa reported Allium’s 2026 estimates of $401 billion to $527 billion in annual stablecoin payments volume. Allium’s estimated payment categories included $56 billion for service fees, $43 billion for payroll and $28 billion for supplier payments; among analyzed flows with geographic attribution, 43% of B2B volume was cross-border. These sector estimates indicate activity across stablecoins generally. They do not establish OUSD’s share, cost savings, speed or reliability.
Who operates OUSD and how partners are involved
Open Standard describes OUSD as partner-operated. It says partners can earn rewards proportional to the OUSD supply and activity they drive, with an opportunity to earn equity; its integration page says rewards require signing up as an Open Standard partner. These are partner-program terms, not evidence of a public referral or publisher commission program. Businesses evaluating OUSD should distinguish those commercial incentives from the practical terms and risks of using the payment services themselves.
