The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nothing Phone (4a) suit different priorities: the Nord 5 has the stronger listed chipset, a faster-refreshing display and 80W charging in the cited European configuration, while the Phone (4a) adds a dedicated 50MP periscope camera. There is no verified current, same-market price comparison here, so the better buy depends on local pricing, the exact memory configuration and which features matter more to you.

Specifications at a glance

The figures below come from OnePlus’s Estonia specification page for the Nord 5 and TechRadar’s March 2026 review of the Phone (4a). They are not a guarantee that every regional version has identical hardware.

How the screens and performance compare

Display

The Nord 5 has the larger listed screen and supports refresh rates up to 144Hz, compared with the Phone (4a)’s review-reported 120Hz. A higher refresh ceiling can make supported motion look smoother, but it does not by itself establish which screen looks better. No independent side-by-side display test is available in the cited evidence.

Processing power

The listed chipsets point to the Nord 5 as the more performance-focused option on paper: it uses Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, while the Phone (4a) is reported with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Chip names alone do not establish real-world speed, sustained gaming performance or thermal behavior. No comparable benchmark or sustained-performance test is available here.

Camera flexibility and battery

Camera setup

The clearest hardware distinction is the Phone (4a)’s reported 50MP periscope camera, alongside main and ultra-wide cameras. A dedicated periscope camera offers a separate telephoto perspective; it gives the Nothing more stated rear-camera variety than the information available for the Nord 5. OnePlus’s UK page advertises 50MP front and rear cameras, but the cited material does not provide a side-by-side image-quality test. Camera resolution alone does not show which phone takes better photos.

Battery and charging

The cited Nord 5 European configuration combines a 5,200mAh battery with 80W charging. TechRadar reports a 5,080mAh battery for the Phone (4a), but the evidence here does not establish its charging rate or provide a direct charging or endurance comparison. The capacity figures are close enough that they should not be treated as proof of longer battery life for either phone.

What is the price difference?

A reliable current price gap cannot be stated from the available figures: the Nothing prices are dated UK preorder prices, while the cited OnePlus pages do not provide a comparable current UK checkout price. Nothing’s official preorder terms, last updated 13 March 2026, listed the Phone (4a) in the UK at £349 for 8GB/128GB, £379 for 8GB/256GB and £399 for 12GB/256GB. Those were preorder prices subject to change, not confirmed current prices. See Nothing’s Phone (4a) Series preorder terms.

For a useful comparison, check both phones from local sellers in the same country and compare the closest matching RAM and storage tiers. Note whether each quote is a regular retail price, a temporary sale or a carrier offer. Do not compare a UK preorder figure with a price from another country or date.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Consider the Nord 5 if its local version offers the cited 144Hz display, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 80W charging at a price that works for you, or if OnePlus’s stated software-support period is important. Confirm the specification and support terms for your country.
  • Consider the Phone (4a) if a dedicated periscope camera is a priority and the local model and price suit you. Confirm the review-reported camera and memory configuration against the seller’s listing.
  • Compare exact configurations before buying. The listed storage tiers differ, and price comparisons are meaningful only when market and configuration are clear.

These are specification-based trade-offs, not a verdict from a head-to-head test. Regional Nord 5 listings can differ: OnePlus’s Estonia and UK pages list 5,200mAh, while a Belarus page cited in the source material displayed 6,800mAh. Check the product page for the exact regional SKU rather than assuming all Nord 5 models are identical. The comparison’s India-specific “under Rs 35,000” framing is not evidence of a current budget or price in India.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
