The OnePlus 15R and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra serve different priorities: the 15R is a conventional phone with a large 6.83-inch display and 7,400 mAh typical battery, while the Fold8 Ultra opens into an 8-inch workspace and starts at $2,099.99 in the US before trade-in. Pick based on whether you want a conventional high-refresh-rate phone or a premium foldable for a larger screen and multitasking—not on battery capacity alone.
How the OnePlus 15R and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra differ
This is not a like-for-like comparison. The OnePlus 15R has one fixed display. Samsung’s foldable has a 6.5-inch cover display for closed-phone use and an 8-inch inner screen when unfolded. The larger inner display is the central reason to consider the Fold8 Ultra; the OnePlus offers a more conventional phone format and a higher stated maximum refresh rate.

What is the price difference?
There is no single reliable price gap across markets. At the check date of October 7, 2026, Samsung US listed the Fold8 Ultra from $2,099.99 before trade-in. Separately, 91mobiles displayed ₹59,999 for the OnePlus 15R on Amazon India and ₹174,999 for the Fold8 Ultra at Samsung Shop India. The India figures are from different retailers and should not be treated as a current, universal comparison.
For a useful local comparison, check both models in the same country on the same day and match storage tiers. Confirm whether each listing is unlocked or carrier-tied, whether trade-in or promotional credit is included, and whether the regional models and warranty terms match. Samsung’s US starting price is before trade-in, not an after-deal price.

Which is better for your priorities?
Choose the OnePlus 15R for a conventional phone and high refresh rate
- You prefer a single, uninterrupted phone display rather than opening a device for a larger screen.
- A maximum adaptive refresh rate of 165 Hz matters to you. OnePlus says 144 Hz and 165 Hz are supported only in listed apps, so the maximum does not apply universally.
- You value the larger stated battery capacity. The 7,400 mAh figure is typical capacity; it does not, by itself, prove longer real-world runtime than the Fold8 Ultra.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for an unfolding workspace
- You expect to use the 8-inch inner display for tasks that benefit from more screen space, while keeping the 6.5-inch cover display available when the phone is closed.
- You want the listed 200 MP wide, 50 MP ultra-wide and 10 MP telephoto camera configuration, including 3× optical zoom. Those specifications describe hardware, not a verified image-quality advantage.
- You are prepared to pay a premium for the foldable form factor. Samsung’s US starting price is $2,099.99 before trade-in.
Battery, cameras and ownership details to weigh
Battery capacity is not a runtime comparison
OnePlus lists 7,400 mAh typical capacity, while Samsung lists 5,000 mAh and advertises up to 27 hours of video playback. The video figure is Samsung’s claim, not a comparable endurance test against the OnePlus. No independent, like-for-like battery result for these exact phones is established here.
Camera specifications do not settle photo quality
The OnePlus specification lists a 50 MP Sony IMX906 main camera with optical image stabilization. Samsung lists a 200 MP wide camera and, in its product FAQ, a 50 MP ultra-wide and 10 MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom. Megapixel counts and lens options alone cannot determine which phone takes better photos; no independent head-to-head camera results are available.

Check S Pen and case compatibility before buying
Samsung states that the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra does not support S Pen. Its product page recommends its magnetic case range for protection and alignment with compatible wireless charging and magnetic accessories. Confirm the exact regional model and accessory compatibility before purchasing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra worth the extra cost?
It may be worth paying more if the foldable design and 8-inch inner display solve a real need for you, such as working or multitasking on a larger phone screen. If you mainly want a conventional smartphone, a high maximum refresh rate and a large stated battery capacity, the OnePlus 15R is the more relevant fit. Decide using same-market, same-storage prices and your own use case; the available specifications do not establish a universal performance, camera or battery winner.
