To get more time between charges on a OnePlus 15, first check which apps are using battery, then restrict background activity only for apps that do not need timely alerts or syncing. Turn on Battery Saver when you can accept reduced background activity, and adjust screen brightness or timeout to suit your priorities. These changes target runtime on the current charge; Smart Charging and charge limits are battery-care choices, not ways to add energy to a full charge.
What to change first: find the actual battery drain
Start with recent battery usage rather than disabling features at random. OnePlus manuals describe checking battery details since the last full charge under Settings > Battery, including which processes used the most power. The OnePlus 8 Pro manual is older, so treat that path as guidance rather than a guaranteed OxygenOS 16 layout. OnePlus’s older manual describes Battery optimization controls for app background behavior, but it does not establish the exact OnePlus 15 menu or toggle names. Search Settings for “app battery usage” or “battery” if the controls are not where expected.

- Consider restricting apps that do not need to sync continuously or deliver immediate notifications.
- Leave messaging, email, security, navigation, and other time-sensitive apps unrestricted if delayed activity would be a problem.
- After changing a setting, watch for delayed alerts or updates and reverse the restriction if it interferes with how you use the app.
Restricting every app can trade useful notifications and syncing for battery savings that have not been quantified for the OnePlus 15.
Use Battery Saver when runtime matters more
Battery Saver is the straightforward option when you need the phone to last longer before the next charge. OnePlus’s older manual says the mode extends battery life by turning off some features and restricting apps. Its precise behavior and label may differ in OxygenOS 16; search Settings for “Battery Saver” or “battery” if needed. Expect the trade-off: some background activity and notifications may be limited.

Use it when extra runtime is more important than having every app update and alert promptly. Turn it off when you need normal background behavior again.
Adjust display and connectivity to fit the situation
Screen brightness and timeout
Lowering brightness and shortening the screen timeout are sensible experiments if you are comfortable with a dimmer display or less time before it turns off. Reducing always-on display use may also be worth trying if you do not need its at-a-glance information. These are general power-saving suggestions; OnePlus has not published OnePlus 15 savings for these individual settings, so no fixed improvement can be promised.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data
Turn off a connection when you are not using it and do not need it available. But disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or 5G is not guaranteed to save power in every situation: signal conditions and how you use the phone matter. Do not confuse runtime settings with charging care
Reports about the OnePlus 15 describe Smart Charging and a Custom Charging Limit in Battery Health, with the limit adjustable in 5% steps. Charging controls change how the phone charges or how much charge it stores. A lower charge limit can mean less energy available for that day, so it is not a way to extend runtime from a full charge. Choose such a limit for charging preferences, not as a substitute for reducing unnecessary consumption.

OnePlus recommends charging between 5°C and 35°C. Its OnePlus 15 Safety Guide says flash charging may not work below 15°C or above 35°C, advises against charging for more than 12 hours, and recommends manufacturer-approved chargers, cables, batteries, and accessories. The guide warns that excessive high or low temperatures may reduce battery lifespan; these charging limits should not be read as the phone’s general operating-temperature range. OnePlus’s general battery-care advice also recommends avoiding excessive charging or depletion, charging when the low-battery reminder appears, unplugging after a full charge, and using the original charger. What OnePlus’s battery claims do—and do not—tell you
OnePlus lists a 7,300mAh Silicon NanoStack battery and advertises up to 31 hours of video playback on its US product page. The company says the playback test used controlled conditions and that actual results vary with usage, network, and settings. That figure is a manufacturer claim, not a promise of typical runtime or evidence that any one setting will produce a particular saving. OnePlus 15 product page
