The OnePlus 12 remains a compelling older flagship if you want a sharp, bright display, fast performance, a large battery, and rapid wired and wireless charging. Its main drawbacks are limited water resistance, camera results that reviewers found less dependable in some conditions, and a software-support commitment shorter than some rivals. Check current local pricing, availability, and regional update status before buying; its 2024 US launch prices are not current price guidance.
What the OnePlus 12 offers
OnePlus lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 120Hz ProXDR display, and a 5,400mAh battery on its US product specifications page. The rear camera system comprises a 50MP Sony LYT-808 main camera with optical image stabilization, a 64MP 3x periscope telephoto camera, and a 48MP ultrawide camera with a 114-degree field of view. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

For the US launch, Android Authority reported 2024 prices of $799 for the 12GB/256GB model and $899 for the 16GB/512GB model, with open sales beginning February 6, 2024. Those are historical launch prices; they do not establish today’s price, stock, or value in another market. Android Authority’s OnePlus 12 review has the launch context.

Bright, sharp display
Android Authority praised the display’s brightness and sharpness. Tom’s Guide also highlighted the larger display as a strength. These are reviewers’ assessments, rather than a guarantee of identical viewing experience in every setting.

Fast performance and charging
Android Authority praised performance and charging speed, while WIRED described a responsive experience and reported that its reviewer found the phone relatively cool during a Genshin Impact test. The phone supports 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging according to OnePlus; WIRED’s review notes that fast wireless charging requires OnePlus’s own wireless charger. Actual charging time can depend on charger, conditions, and use.
Large battery and wireless charging
WIRED reported strong battery life in its own use. Tom’s Guide counted the return of wireless charging among the phone’s positives. These observations reflect reviewer experience, not a standardized guarantee of runtime for every user.
OnePlus 12 cons
Camera results can be inconsistent
Android Authority found low-light camera performance hit-or-miss, and The Guardian was more critical of the camera relative to rival phones. That makes camera dependability—especially in dim scenes—a meaningful consideration if it is a top buying priority. The Guardian’s review gives its comparative assessment.

Reviewers described water resistance as limited or spray-resistant, not waterproof. Treat the phone accordingly around water; the available reviews do not support assuming it can withstand submersion.
Support is shorter than some rivals
At launch, Android Authority and WIRED reported OnePlus’s commitment as four Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. That commitment is useful context, but it is not the same as confirmation of a specific update’s availability today in your region.
Software updates and availability in 2026
On July 16, 2026, Tom’s Guide reported that OnePlus had decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America. The report quoted OnePlus as saying existing devices would continue receiving software updates, security patches, and after-sales support. The statement does not give an individual OnePlus 12 rollout calendar or confirm when a particular update reaches each region. Check OnePlus’s support channel for your country and device before relying on a specific update schedule. Tom’s Guide’s July 2026 report includes the company’s statement.

Should you buy the OnePlus 12?
Consider it if your priorities are a high-resolution, high-refresh-rate screen, strong flagship-class performance, generous battery capacity, and very fast charging—and if the price and support situation in your market make sense. Look elsewhere if dependable low-light photography, stronger water protection, or a longer update commitment matters more. Because the available sources do not establish current competitor prices or a present-day head-to-head test, compare today’s local offers and support terms rather than relying on launch-era value claims.
For shoppers seeking the advertised maximum 50W wireless charging, OnePlus’s AIRVOOC charger is the relevant accessory category; WIRED says the phone needs the company’s own charger for fast wireless charging. Confirm compatibility and local availability before purchasing.
