The 12 adds a newer processor, a larger display, a higher-capacity battery and wireless charging; the 11 has a documented four-generation Android and five-year security-update commitment. Which is the better choice depends on current pricing and which upgrades matter to you.

Specifications can vary by market, particularly wired charging. The OnePlus 11 US page lists 80W, while other regional materials may give a different speed. OnePlus’s North American launch announcement lists 80W wired charging for the OnePlus 12. Check the exact regional model before buying.

How much more did the OnePlus 12 cost?
In the United States, the OnePlus 11’s launch starting price was $699.99 in 2023, while the OnePlus 12 launched at $799.99 in 2024. The difference is $100, or roughly 14% of the 11’s launch price. These are launch figures, not current street prices; they do not establish present stock, seller availability or comparable offers. What changes with the OnePlus 12?
Newer processor generation
The OnePlus 12 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, one generation newer than the OnePlus 11’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. That establishes a platform-generation difference, not a measured speed advantage in everyday use or a particular app. OnePlus’s performance percentages are manufacturer claims; the cited sources do not establish independent side-by-side benchmark results. Larger display
The 12’s 6.82-inch display is larger than the 11’s 6.7-inch panel. Both offer high-resolution displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz. The OnePlus 11’s official specifications identify its display as dynamic 1–120Hz LTPO AMOLED; the OnePlus 12 launch materials describe a 2K 120Hz ProXDR display. Screen size and listed specifications do not by themselves establish which panel looks better to a particular viewer.
Higher stated battery capacity and wireless charging
The 12’s typical 5400mAh capacity is 400mAh greater than the 11’s 5000mAh. Capacity alone does not prove longer real-world battery life, which also depends on usage and other conditions. The more concrete feature distinction is charging: OnePlus’s US product page says the 11 does not support wireless charging, while the 12 supports 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. Wired charging figures are regional, so verify the local version rather than assuming one speed applies worldwide. Revised camera hardware
Both phones have Hasselblad-branded camera systems. The 11’s main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor; the 12 uses a 50MP Sony LYT-808. OnePlus describes the 12’s sensor as newer and larger, but the cited material does not establish that it produces better photos in practice.

The telephoto specifications also differ: the OnePlus 11 lists a 32MP camera with 2× optical zoom, while the 12 has a 64MP, 3× periscope telephoto camera. These are meaningful hardware differences if you care about zoom range or camera configuration, but megapixels and zoom specifications are not substitutes for comparative photo testing.

- You value the 12’s newer telephoto-camera configuration and 3× periscope hardware.
Consider the OnePlus 11 if the current deal is better for you
- You are comparing actual current prices rather than relying on the historical $100 launch gap.
- You do not need the 12’s larger display or wireless charging.
- You want to weigh the 11’s explicitly documented software-support commitment against the terms confirmed for the exact alternative you are considering.
Neither phone is a universal winner on the specifications alone. The 12 is the more feature-rich upgrade in the areas listed here, while the right value choice depends on today’s comparable offers, configuration and your priorities.
