First identify what is not updating: the OneDrive app in the App Store, or files and camera uploads inside OneDrive. They have different fixes. For file-sync problems, check your connection, Microsoft storage and selected account, then reset OneDrive. For an App Store update that will not install, start with iOS compatibility and the exact App Store error; a OneDrive sync reset is not a guaranteed fix for an App Store download problem.
Work out what “won’t update” means
Note your iPhone model, iOS version, OneDrive version, the exact error message and whether the problem is the app installation or its content. This distinction matters because Microsoft’s iOS troubleshooting guidance focuses mainly on syncing, camera uploads, sign-in and app problems—not a complete fix for every App Store download error.

- The app update is stuck or unavailable in the App Store: Check iOS compatibility and record the App Store message. If the iPhone cannot meet the current requirement, OneDrive may not be available in the way you expect.
- Files or camera uploads are stale: Check the internet connection, available Microsoft storage and the account selected in OneDrive.

Check iOS compatibility and internet access
Confirm the iOS requirement
Microsoft’s system requirements page lists iOS 18.0 or later for OneDrive on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The page was last updated June 23, 2026, and says users below the stated minimum may only be able to update the OneDrive app. Requirements can change, so check Microsoft’s current OneDrive system requirements rather than relying on an old compatibility list.

Open a webpage or another app that needs internet to confirm the iPhone is online. If OneDrive works on Wi-Fi but not mobile data, device settings or your mobile plan may limit some apps and features to Wi-Fi. Microsoft describes this possibility in its iOS troubleshooting guidance.

Check storage and the selected account
If files cannot upload, edit or sync, check the Microsoft storage available to the account. Microsoft says that exceeding the storage limit prevents new files from being uploaded, edited or synced. This is a content-sync issue; it does not establish the cause of an App Store app-update failure. See Microsoft’s mobile sync troubleshooting guidance.
Also verify that OneDrive is using the account where the missing or outdated files belong. If you have both personal and work or school accounts configured, check the relevant account before resetting it or contacting support.

Reset OneDrive for a sync or camera-upload problem

- Open Settings, then Account.
- If more than one account is configured, select the account with the problem.
- Tap Reset and follow any on-screen prompts.
This is the in-app reset Microsoft recommends for persistent sync or camera-upload trouble. If the labels differ in your version, consult its current iOS instructions.

Reinstall only if the problem persists
Microsoft’s guidance is: “If you still have issues, uninstall and reinstall the app.” Microsoft Support, Troubleshoot OneDrive for iOS app problems.
Uninstalling OneDrive does not delete files stored in the cloud. Microsoft says they remain available at OneDrive.com when you sign in again. Reinstalling resets app settings and triggers a full sync, so you may need to set up preferences such as camera upload again. A large photo library can take time to sync, and signing out or reinstalling can cause camera-upload setup to start over. When to contact support
If the issue continues, use OneDrive’s in-app support option. For certain sign-in problems, Microsoft directs personal-account users to account help and work or school users to their organization’s IT administrator. If the App Store itself reports an installation error, use Apple’s support channel for that error; OneDrive’s sync guidance does not diagnose every App Store failure. Microsoft’s pages are live guidance and may change, and the available troubleshooting information does not establish whether there is a service incident or what caused a particular user’s error.
