What is One UI Home on my Samsung phone?
Samsung describes One UI Home as its official Galaxy launcher. It supplies the Home screen and Apps screen and gives you a place to arrange app icons and widgets. Start with the apps you reach for most often. Move their icons into convenient positions, then leave open space for widgets that provide information or quick access. A useful layout makes frequent actions easy to find without filling every space with shortcuts.

How do I add or organize widgets?
Widgets show information or provide controls on the Home screen without requiring you to open the associated app. Add the ones that answer a real at-a-glance need—such as information you check often—and position them so frequently used app icons remain easy to reach.
To find widget controls, touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen and look for the widgets option; the exact interaction can differ by model and software. Samsung also says a long press on an app icon or widget can provide shortcuts to App info or Widget settings. Use those shortcuts when available rather than searching through menus.

What can I change in One UI 7?
Samsung’s One UI 7 materials describe redesigned app icons and widgets, a standard Home screen grid, larger folders, and settings for icon size, labels, and widget appearance. Widget appearance controls can include shape, background color, and transparency. These are One UI 7 examples, not a guarantee that every Galaxy has the same options.

- Labels: App and widget labels can be enabled in Home screen settings. Samsung notes that third-party app widgets do not support the described widget-label setting, and labels may leave less room for widget content.
- Folders: In the configuration Samsung describes, a folder can expand from 1×1 to 2×2 when there is enough space around it. Apps in an expanded folder can be launched directly.
- Grid choices: Samsung Support says standard One UI 7 settings do not support 4×5 and 5×5 Home screen grids; it points to Good Lock for configuring those layouts.
Samsung’s One UI 7 Home screen guide gives these configuration details. The One UI 7 update notes for SM-F956B document visual changes on that specific device; they should not be treated as proof that all Galaxy models have identical controls.

Why does my Galaxy home screen look different after an update?
An update can change the design or expose settings that depend on the Galaxy model, installed One UI and Android versions, or app version. Samsung’s One UI 7 update notes, for example, describe redesigned icons and widgets and additional Home screen customization, while its support guide identifies limits on certain grids and landscape editing. Your available controls may therefore differ from screenshots or instructions for another device.
Check your phone’s installed software version and model, then compare the relevant Samsung guidance with the settings shown on your device. In the One UI 7 configuration covered by Samsung Support, Home screen content can rearrange in landscape orientation, but editing app icons and widgets and changing folder size are unsupported in landscape mode. If an option described in a guide is missing, the difference may be a model or software limitation rather than a misplaced setting.

How to choose a layout that stays useful
- Place regular-use apps first. Put the icons you open most often where they are easy to reach.
- Add only useful widgets. Choose information or controls you want to see without opening an app, and allow enough space for both widgets and shortcuts.
- Group related apps. Use folders to reduce clutter; on supported One UI 7 configurations, expand a folder when surrounding space allows and direct access to its apps is useful.
- Review labels and size. Adjust icon size or labels when those options are available, keeping in mind that widget labels can reduce room for widget content.
- Lock the arrangement if appropriate. If your version offers a Home screen layout lock, enable it after arranging items to help avoid accidental changes.
Samsung warns that feature availability, menu paths, and screen layouts differ by model and software. Treat settings as device-specific rather than assuming every Galaxy has the same grid or customization choices.
