Which devices count toward the six-device limit?
The six-device maximum is for Logitech Unifying peripherals paired to a Unifying receiver. Logitech states that one receiver can be paired with up to six Unifying devices at a time in its support documentation. Its product page for the USB Unifying receiver also describes support for up to six compatible keyboards and mice.

Check for the Unifying logo on both the peripheral and receiver. A Logitech brand name alone does not establish compatibility; if either item lacks the logo, do not assume it can pair with a Unifying receiver. Logitech explains the logo check and receiver compatibility in its receiver support guidance.
How to pair another compatible device
For supported devices, Logitech currently recommends Logi Options+ rather than its older standalone Unifying Software, which Logitech says is no longer supported or maintained. Follow the app’s on-screen pairing prompts; the documented process includes turning the device off and back on when prompted. Availability of pairing options can vary by product, so consult that product’s support page if the app does not show the expected option. See Logitech’s pairing instructions and software notice.

A peripheral moved from a different receiver must be paired to the receiver you want to use. Confirm the Unifying logo first, then use Logitech’s supported pairing software for that device.
Can you remove a device to make room?
Yes. Logitech documents how to unpair a mouse or keyboard from a receiver. If the device being removed is your only working mouse or keyboard, keep another usable input device available so you can continue controlling the computer during the process. Follow Logitech’s unpairing instructions.

What if you need a replacement receiver?
Logitech lists its USB Unifying receiver as part number 910-005235; it is intended for compatible Unifying mice and keyboards and supports up to six. Before buying a replacement or spare, check that your existing peripheral has the Unifying logo and confirm the receiver is the Unifying type. Logitech’s receiver product page identifies the model and compatibility.
