The feature most likely behind the “hidden Samsung One UI feature” hook is One Hand Operation+, a Good Lock module that maps thumb swipes from the screen edge to actions such as Back, Home and Recent apps. It can make common controls easier to reach, but it is not a standard One UI Settings toggle—and Samsung says availability and options vary by phone model and software version.
What One Hand Operation+ does
Samsung describes Good Lock as a suite of customization apps for Galaxy devices. One Hand Operation+ is the module for assigning actions to horizontal and diagonal swipes from the left or right edge of the display. That lets you trigger selected system functions with a thumb rather than reaching for on-screen controls.

Samsung’s support guide lists actions including Back, Home and Recent apps. Samsung Global Newsroom’s April 2025 overview also describes options for left- or right-handed gestures, touch-recognition range, vibration intensity, app exclusions and S Pen gestures. Which settings appear depends on the device and software version; Samsung cautions that features and settings can vary.
How to install it on a Galaxy device
- Open Galaxy Store and search for Good Lock.
- Install Good Lock if it is available for your device.
- Open Good Lock, then download or update One Hand Operation+ from the applications or modules it offers.
- Open One Hand Operation+ and configure the available left- and right-edge gestures and their assigned actions.
- Try the gestures on your device and adjust the available handle or recognition settings if they are difficult to trigger.
These installation steps follow Samsung’s India support guide, updated October 1, 2026. Store and module availability may differ by region, device and software version, so check Galaxy Store on your own phone rather than assuming Good Lock will appear everywhere.

Why it can feel like a power-user feature
The useful idea is not simply adding another gesture; it is choosing which frequent actions should be one swipe away. A person who often navigates back, returns Home or switches among recent apps can assign those actions to edge swipes and reduce how often they need to reach across a large screen. That is a practical convenience, not proof of a measured productivity gain: the cited Samsung materials describe functions and download counts, not an independent usability study.
Samsung reported that One Hand Operation+ ranked third among Good Lock features by cumulative downloads through early March 2025, with more than 16 million downloads. That is a dated download total—not a count of active users or unique people, and not a measure of satisfaction or time saved.

How it differs from Edge panels
Edge panels are a separate One UI feature. Samsung Developer documentation describes them as a way to open an app or feature while another app remains on screen; dragging an app from the Apps edge panel can create a pop-up or split-screen view. One Hand Operation+ instead assigns system actions to thumb swipes. The former is primarily a quick-access and multitasking surface; the latter is gesture-based control.

What to check before relying on it
- Confirm Good Lock and One Hand Operation+ are available in Galaxy Store for your device and region.
- Check which gestures and actions your current model and software version actually offer.
- Choose gestures that are comfortable and do not conflict with how you already navigate the phone.
- If your goal is opening apps or arranging them side by side, look at Edge panels instead of treating them as interchangeable features.
