Omnissa Elara is a beta “authority layer” for AI governance and high-impact enterprise actions, announced on September 29, 2026. It is designed to connect information spread across identity, device, application, AI and policy systems so teams can judge an action with more context before authorizing it. The potential benefit is better-informed decisions across silos—not proof that the silos disappear or that risky actions are automatically prevented.
What Omnissa Elara is designed to do
Elara is intended to help IT and security teams answer a question that can be difficult when each system sees only part of the picture: given the people, identities, devices, apps, AI models or agents involved, and the applicable permissions and policies, should a proposed action proceed?

Omnissa Product CTO (Americas) and Head of Platform Brian Link described the problem this way: “The most important questions rarely live in any one system. They live between them.” Elara’s proposed role is to make some of that between-system context available to decision-makers before consequences follow.
How Elara connects information across systems
Omnissa describes Elara as a layer above existing Omnissa and third-party tools. Connectors feed information into an entity graph, which relates entities such as people, identities, devices, apps, AI models and agents to policy and permission data. That connected context can then inform a decision or approval workflow.
#1 Best Overall
- Connect: Connectors bring signals from existing systems into Elara. The announcement describes support for Omnissa and third-party tools, but does not specify a complete connector list.
- Relate: The entity graph links relevant entities and their associated policy or permission information, rather than treating each signal as an isolated record.
- Assess: Teams can use that context to evaluate an action, identify potential conflicts, apply guardrails or route the decision for approval.
- Record: Omnissa says the process can preserve an audit-ready decision chain, giving organizations a record of how an action was considered.
What cross-system context could help teams see
| Use case | What Elara is intended to contribute | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Shadow AI | Connect signals that may reveal unsanctioned AI tools in use and support AI-usage guardrails. | Omnissa’s announcement does not establish detection accuracy, coverage across every endpoint or service, or automatic remediation. |
| Change conflicts | Evaluate a proposed change against freezes, conflicts and dependencies before it proceeds. | Surfacing a conflict informs a decision; it does not settle the business trade-off or prove that the change will be blocked. |
| Approvals | Route decisions to people who should review them using context from connected systems. | The available description does not specify every approval rule or how organizations configure them. |
| Audit trail | Preserve a decision chain that can support later review of an action and its approval. | Omnissa describes this as audit-ready; independent validation of the audit capabilities is not established. |
Omnissa says its 2026 research found unsanctioned AI tools present on 75% of enterprise-managed devices. That is a vendor-reported figure; the reviewed announcement does not provide its methodology or an independently audited denominator. It illustrates why organizations may want broader visibility, but it is not an independently verified measure of Elara’s detection performance.
Why connecting systems does not eliminate the hard part
Cross-system visibility depends on whether the relevant systems are connected and whether the organization can provide access to the information needed for a decision. A tool may surface technical relationships, but business context—such as why a freeze exists or which operational priority should take precedence—may sit with teams or decision-makers outside the systems it can see.
Rank #2
Frank Dickson, principal analyst at Dickson Research, framed the distinction with a security patch that conflicts with an inventory freeze: “A security patch colliding with an inventory freeze is not a technology problem. It is a business trade-off. The person approving the change should see both sides before deciding.” He also cautioned that Elara may expose only “tiny cracks of visibility” between some silos when it lacks access to all relevant information.

That is the central limitation to weigh: connecting data can improve the context available for governance, but the quality of the decision still depends on data access, completeness and organizational authority. The announcement does not establish that Elara guarantees prevention, resolves competing priorities or reaches every relevant source of business information.

Omnissa announced Elara at Omnissa ONE 2026 on September 29, 2026, and describes it as a beta product with a waitlist. As of October 2, 2026, the reviewed sources do not state pricing, a general-availability date or service levels. They also do not provide independent customer outcomes, performance measurements or independently measured return on investment. Omnissa describes itself as serving 26,000 customers worldwide; that is a company-reported figure, not evidence that those customers use or have evaluated Elara.
Elara is therefore best understood as an early-stage approach to connecting enterprise signals for AI governance and consequential decisions. Its practical value will depend on the systems it can connect, the information organizations authorize it to access, and how teams translate its context into policies and approvals.
