The Omega ORU52X is a 52 cm undermount rangehood with published support for ducted or recirculating extraction. Omega’s product sheet lists 790 m³/hr net extraction and a 51–66 dBA noise range, but these are manufacturer specifications—not independently verified performance figures. Before treating it as a fit, check your cabinet opening, duct route, electrical setup, local requirements and the exact model revision.
What the Omega ORU52X is
Omega describes the ORU52X as a stainless-steel undermount rangehood in the 52 cm category. Its product sheet, updated 30 January 2020, gives overall dimensions of 254 mm high × 520 mm wide × 296 mm deep, plus 60 mm for the flue connection, with a 150 mm flue diameter. The sheet says its drawings are indicative; use physical product measurements when planning cabinet work. Omega’s New Zealand manuals index lists an ORU52X instruction manual, but the precise specifications and appearance may vary by revision.

The product sheet and manual do not use fully harmonised wording for some specifications, including lighting and extraction. Check the rating plate and current documentation supplied for your unit rather than assuming an older sheet applies unchanged.

Check fit and installation before cutting
The ORU52X manual specifies a 490 × 265 mm cabinet opening and recommends positioning the hood 65–75 cm above the cooking surface. These are model-document figures, not a substitute for checking the actual appliance and site. The product sheet gives a 150 mm flue diameter and says the hood can be used with ducted or recirculating extraction.
- Measure the cabinet and verify its construction and available clearance against the physical hood.
- Plan whether air will be ducted outdoors or recirculated, and confirm the outlet route and required ducting.
- Check the model and rating plate, electrical supply, earthing and applicable local rules.
- Have installation completed by a qualified electrician or competent person; the manual requires compliance with local electrical and ducting requirements.
Do not cut cabinetry based only on a drawing: Omega’s product sheet says its drawings are indicative. Use the current manual for your exact version and confirm measurements before work starts.

Controls, lighting and routine upkeep
The manual describes push-button controls for stop, low, mid and high, plus a light control. It lists GU-10-base halogen lamps rated up to 40 W each. Before replacing a lamp, disconnect mains power and check the appliance labels for the maximum permitted rating. For motor or electrical faults, use authorised service rather than attempting electrical repair.

For grease-filter care, the manual recommends cleaning every 4–6 weeks depending on use. It permits warm soapy water or dishwasher cleaning, while warning that a dishwasher may discolour the mesh and frame. Switch off and disconnect power before cleaning; accumulated grease can present a fire hazard. Follow the manual for the exact appliance version.

Replacement carbon filter
Omega’s product sheet names optional carbon filter spare part ALFL68A601C. That establishes the part as listed for the ORU52X, not that it is currently in stock or compatible with every revision. Check the hood’s model and rating plate and confirm fit and availability with Omega or an authorised parts supplier before ordering.
