TrendForce reported global OLED monitor shipments rose 98% year over year in Q2 2026. That is a shipment trend, not a guarantee of local stock, lower prices or a best choice for every buyer.
How fast is the OLED monitor market growing?
TrendForce’s shipment figures show strong annual growth, alongside seasonal quarter-to-quarter movement:

| Period | Quarter over quarter | Year over year | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 2026 | Down 11% | Up 78% | TrendForce described a seasonal downturn and said Q4 2025 promotions had pulled demand forward. TrendForce, 19 May 2026 |
| Q2 2026 | Up 26.1% | Up 98% | TrendForce linked growth to new models, China’s 618 shopping festival and promotion of 27-inch QHD monitors. TrendForce, 13 August 2026 |
The year-over-year comparison is the clearer measure of momentum: Q1 shipments were higher than a year earlier despite the sequential decline. A single quarter’s rise or fall should not be read as a settled full-year result.
Which OLED monitor size and resolution lead the market?
TrendForce identified 27-inch QHD as the dominant OLED monitor segment in Q2 2026. It is a useful mainstream reference point, not a universal recommendation. Larger 32-inch 4K models and ultrawide displays offer different screen space and detail; high-refresh QHD models can prioritize speed. The practical trade-offs depend on desk space, viewing distance, the games or work involved, and the graphics hardware driving the display.

What kinds of OLED monitors are available?
The market includes both QD-OLED and WOLED, with products ranging from QHD to 4K and ultrawide formats. The OLED label alone does not tell you which model suits your use. Compare the implementation and specifications of the exact monitor.
- Resolution and refresh rate: Check which resolution is active at the advertised maximum refresh rate. Some models focus on high-resolution play; others prioritize esports speed or provide dual-resolution modes.
- Text and desktop work: Models use different subpixel arrangements. If you spend hours reading or editing text, look for independent measurements of the specific model rather than assuming one panel family is always sharper.
- HDR brightness: Peak brightness figures depend on the size of the measured screen area and the test window. A small-window peak is not equivalent to sustained full-screen brightness.
- Reflections and room lighting: Check the model’s coating and independent performance evidence; the OLED type alone does not establish how it will handle a bright room.
- Ports and desk setup: Verify the exact USB-C power delivery, DisplayPort version, hub features and stand or mounting options against your computer and setup.
- Warranty: OLED pixel-burn-in coverage differs by model and region. Read the manufacturer’s written local terms before buying.
Why are manufacturers expanding OLED monitor production?
Omdia’s July 2026 forecast projected 38.8 million large-area OLED display shipments for the full year, up 18.8% year over year. That figure covers large-area OLED applications overall, not monitors alone. Omdia identified monitors and notebook PCs as important growth drivers and described Korean manufacturers shifting more Gen 8.5 fabrication capacity from TV displays toward monitor displays. It is a forecast, not a final 2026 shipment result. Omdia, 15 July 2026

For example, Tom’s Hardware reported on 2 September 2026 that Dell had announced the Alienware AW3226Q, a 32-inch 4K 165 Hz RGB-stripe Tandem OLED expected in fall 2026, and the AW2527HX, a 24.5-inch 560 Hz model expected in Q1 2027. At the time of that report, prices had not been announced; it reported three years of OLED pixel burn-in warranty for both. Those reported expectations and terms should not be treated as confirmation of current availability or as a substitute for checking the manufacturer’s regional warranty. Samsung’s June 2026 announcement said it would expand its Odyssey OLED lineup with three Odyssey G8 models and an OLED G7. It also attributed a 26% share of OLED gaming monitors and number-one position for a third consecutive year to IDC data. That is Samsung’s report of IDC figures, not an independently verified market-share measure in the announcement. Market share does not establish which model performs best for a particular buyer. What should buyers take from the 2026 market?
- Use 27-inch QHD as a mainstream reference point, not a default answer for every desk or use.
- Compare exact model specifications, especially resolution at maximum refresh rate, panel implementation, text behavior, HDR measurement conditions and connectivity.
- Distinguish products on sale from future launches and prototypes; verify local price, stock and warranty terms before making a decision.
- Treat shipment growth and supply forecasts as market context, not proof of a particular product’s value or performance.
