Doctors using these platforms may issue a digital prescription when clinically appropriate; paying for a consultation does not guarantee medication. The historical Oi Fibra offer, Oi Medic and Consultaí Oi are distinct offerings whose providers, eligibility and prices should be checked separately.
What Oi’s telemedicine offers refer to
The name “Oi telemedicine” can point to different services from different periods. Oi’s older Oi Saúde material described online consultations, prescriptions, nursing support, nationwide coverage and access to more than 25 specialties and 4,000 doctors. Those are historical claims, not proof that the same package remains available today. Oi’s Oi Saúde article also discussed online dermatology, including rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne, minor rashes and insect bites.
In January 2023, Teletime reported an Oi partnership with SulAmérica Docway for a 24/7 “Pronto Atendimento Digital” service aimed at Oi Fibra customers. The reported launch offer cost R$19.90 per month and advertised unlimited consultations, more than 4,000 doctors, 25 specialties and telepsychology. These figures describe that reported launch offer, not a verified current price or product configuration. Teletime characterized it as a value-added service, not conventional health insurance. Other pages now use Oi-related names, but the available information does not establish that they are a continuation of Oi Saúde or that Oi S.A. operates them. Oi’s telecom brand and a health vendor’s branded service should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the contract.

How an online consultation and prescription work
The exact signup and interface vary by provider. In general, a patient chooses or activates a service, identifies themselves, provides symptoms and relevant health information, and joins a video consultation. The clinician assesses whether remote care is appropriate. They may issue a prescription, certificate, referral or exam request—or recommend an in-person appointment instead.
- Verify the offer: check the contracting provider, eligibility, price, recurring billing, cancellation terms and any limits on consultations or dependents.
- Access the provider’s designated website or app: use the sign-in route stated by that service; do not assume one platform’s login or menu applies to another.
- Complete the intake: provide accurate identification, symptoms, medications and relevant medical history.
- Attend the video visit: use a stable internet connection, adequate lighting and a camera that lets the clinician assess the complaint. This is particularly useful for visible skin concerns.
- Follow the clinician’s advice: if a digital document is issued, check what kind it is and how to validate or present it.
- Confirm acceptance before relying on it: ask the pharmacy or receiving institution whether it can verify the document. If it is rejected, contact the prescriber or platform for correction or guidance.
A prescription is possible, not promised
A prescription is a clinical decision, not a guaranteed feature of a paid service. The physician may decide medication is unnecessary or unsafe, request tests, issue a certificate or referral, or direct the patient to in-person care. Renewal requests also require medical review.

Oi Medic’s page says digital prescriptions, reports or certificates may be provided when indicated. Its FAQ also says the referenced SulAmérica/IXER flow does not issue blue- or yellow-form controlled-drug prescriptions electronically. That limitation is specific to the described service flow; it should not be generalized to every telemedicine platform or prescription category. See Oi Medic’s information and FAQ.
Brazil permits electronic medical documents under applicable rules, but a document’s acceptance depends on the prescription type, the prescriber’s credentials, the signature and validation method, and the receiving pharmacy or institution. Anvisa explains requirements for digitally signed prescriptions for controlled medicines and antimicrobials, including applicable ICP-Brasil certification requirements; that does not make every digital document valid for every medicine. Before using a digital medication prescription, check that it identifies the patient; names the medicine and presentation; specifies dose, route, frequency and duration; shows the issue date and prescriber’s name and professional registration; and provides a valid digital signature or verification method. A referral, exam request or medical certificate is not a medication prescription.

- Does the plan require Oi Fibra or another Oi account, or can non-customers enroll?
- Can family members or dependents use it, and are there age limits?
- Are consultations unlimited, capped, discounted or charged individually?
- Which doctors and specialties are available, and can you schedule a particular clinician?
- Is the service nationwide, and what happens if your connection or video call fails?
- Who provides and controls the health service and records? Check how data is stored, shared with partners and protected under Brazil’s LGPD, whether consultations are recorded, and how to request access, correction or deletion.
- What are the renewal, cancellation and refund terms?
Do not assume that a telemedicine subscription is a health plan. The 2023 offer was reported as a value-added service; for any current product, read the contract to determine whether it is a digital clinic, assistance package, subscription benefit, discount service or regulated health plan.
When telemedicine is useful—and when it is not
Reasonable uses for a routine video visit
Telemedicine may suit mild, non-emergency complaints such as cold or flu-like symptoms, a mild sore throat, routine guidance, some visible skin problems or a medication-renewal request that a clinician can safely assess remotely. For dermatology, good lighting and a clear camera view matter; a video visit cannot provide every kind of examination.
Seek in-person evaluation for problems that need examination or testing
A remote clinician may be unable to diagnose safely when the case requires palpation, imaging, laboratory tests or a procedure. Arrange in-person care if symptoms are worsening quickly, a serious infection is suspected, or the clinician says remote assessment is insufficient. Do not use the service to obtain controlled medication that requires a different prescription process.
Subscription or pay-per-visit?
Compare the likely number of visits with the actual recurring fee and what the contract includes. A subscription can make sense for someone who expects repeated access to covered services; a per-consultation option avoids a monthly commitment if only one visit is needed. Neither pricing model guarantees a prescription, specialist continuity, emergency treatment or conventional insurance coverage. Compare provider identity, dependents, appointment availability, specialties, prescription limits and cancellation terms alongside price.
