How Bootstrap’s native panel behaves
In Bootstrap v5.3, a trigger targets an offcanvas element, and a placement class selects its edge: start, end, top, or bottom. A dismiss button can use data-bs-dismiss="offcanvas". Bootstrap documents a default backdrop, one panel at a time, and Escape-to-close behavior by default. Page scrolling is disabled while the panel and backdrop are visible unless the relevant option changes it.

Responsive classes such as .offcanvas-lg can make a panel behave as ordinary content above a breakpoint. That can suit a design where navigation is an overlay on smaller screens but remains visible as regular content on larger ones. Colorlib lists four ways to close V08: the close button, Escape, clicking the empty background, or selecting a link. If you customize the snippet or integrate it with other navigation code, verify each behavior in the finished site rather than assuming it remains intact.

For Bootstrap’s native component, its documentation says to give the panel an aria-labelledby attribute that references its visible title. Bootstrap adds the dialog role through JavaScript, so the documentation says an explicit role="dialog" is not needed. Its animation responds to the user’s prefers-reduced-motion setting. These details apply to Bootstrap’s component; a standalone or modified V08 implementation needs its own accessibility review.
- Keep a clear, keyboard-accessible close action visible while the menu is open.
- Test Escape handling, backdrop dismissal, and link selection after customization.
- Check keyboard focus and screen-reader labeling in the actual implementation.
- Confirm that reduced-motion preferences are respected by any custom animation.
Is V08 free for commercial use?
Colorlib’s collection page says its 2026 snippets are free for personal and commercial use under CC BY 3.0, with a credit link retained. That is a collection-level statement, not confirmation of the terms attached to the specific V08 download: the item’s download destination could not be verified. Check the current item-level terms and preserve any required attribution before shipping or redistributing it.
