YouTube can end a broadcast about a minute after its encoder stops when auto-stop is enabled—but changing that setting will not make the playlist repeat. To keep the stream going, the OBS source or playlist tool must continue supplying content.
First identify what stopped
A playlist finishing, OBS stopping its output, and YouTube ending the broadcast are separate events. OBS sends the feed; YouTube’s broadcast settings determine what happens when that feed stops. YouTube describes auto-start and auto-stop as settings that let you start or stop streaming from the encoder (YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings).
- While the broadcast is live, watch OBS’s streaming status and the YouTube Live Control Room preview/status as the final playlist item ends.
- If OBS output goes idle or stops, the interruption begins at the media source or playlist component feeding the OBS scene.
- If OBS still shows active output but YouTube says the event ended, check that OBS is connected to the intended broadcast and review that broadcast’s settings.
YouTube’s broadcast lifecycle documentation treats active stream status as evidence that its servers are receiving encoder data. It also explains that, with auto-stop enabled, YouTube automatically ends the broadcast about one minute after transmission stops (Google for Developers: Life of a Broadcast).
Make the playlist source continue supplying video
If OBS stops sending when the final item ends, configure the source or playlist system to repeat, loop, or otherwise continue playback, or switch to a scene that keeps supplying live content. The exact control depends on what supplies the videos: OBS’s built-in media source, a plugin, or an external playlist tool can have different settings. Since the source is not identified here, there is no reliable universal menu path or setting name.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Check the source or playlist tool’s playback and end-of-file behavior.
- Confirm that the scene containing the source remains active after the last item.
- Test the behavior with a short playlist while monitoring OBS output and the YouTube preview.
Check YouTube auto-stop and scheduled broadcast settings
Auto-stop controls YouTube’s response when the encoder stops; it does not control whether OBS repeats media. If you want the event to end when the playlist is done, auto-stop may be the intended behavior. If you need time to reconnect after a temporary interruption, disabling auto-stop may prevent YouTube from ending the event immediately, but OBS still has to resume sending video. OBS’s YouTube guide warns that a broadcast with auto-stop off will eventually end if no stream is sent for multiple hours.
For a scheduled broadcast, confirm OBS has selected the intended event. When auto-start and auto-stop are not enabled, OBS’s Start Streaming action and YouTube Live Control Room’s Go Live and End Stream actions are separate steps. See the OBS Forums guide to streaming to YouTube; interface details may change.

If OBS keeps transmitting but YouTube ends the event
- Verify the selected broadcast in OBS and the Live Control Room; a different scheduled event can make status confusing.
- Review auto-start and auto-stop for that broadcast. Reusing YouTube stream settings can also copy those choices.
- Check whether OBS’s YouTube integration is current. OBS Studio 27 release notes documented historical fixes related to Go Live on existing broadcasts without auto-start and broadcast-button state with auto-stop enabled. Those old fixes are not evidence that either issue is the cause on a current installation (OBS Studio 27 Release Notes).
Choose the outcome you want
| Goal | What to configure | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Keep showing content after the final item | Make the OBS source or playlist system repeat or continue playback. | YouTube auto-stop does not loop media. |
| Allow recovery after a brief feed interruption | Consider disabling YouTube auto-stop and ensure OBS can reconnect and resume its feed. | A live event can remain without video only temporarily; this setting does not provide content. |
| End the event when the playlist finishes | Leave auto-stop enabled if that matches your intended workflow. | This is expected behavior when OBS stops transmitting, not a playlist-repeat fix. |
Troubleshooting common cases
- OBS output stops exactly at the last item: inspect the source or playlist’s end behavior and configure it to continue or repeat.
- YouTube ends the event roughly a minute after OBS stops: auto-stop is consistent with this behavior. Decide whether the event should end or whether you need a reconnection window.
- The scheduled event does not start or end when expected: check the selected broadcast and whether auto-start/auto-stop are enabled; otherwise use the Live Control Room’s Go Live or End Stream controls as needed.
- OBS appears live but the selected YouTube event is ended: verify the broadcast selection and settings, then check OBS’s YouTube integration and version.
