For a mostly static Bengali music playlist, start with OBS at 1280×720, 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, 3 Mbps video, and stereo AAC at 128 Kbps. That is a practical starting profile, not a guarantee for every low-end PC: the right settings depend on its encoder, your upload connection, and the motion in your visual. Test privately before going public, and confirm you have rights to livestream every track.
Recommended OBS settings to start with
YouTube’s published H.264 guidance recommends 3 Mbps video for 720p at 30 fps, with a stated range of 2–6 Mbps. These are platform recommendations, not benchmark results for a particular computer. A static cover image or simple visualizer usually makes 720p/30 a sensible first attempt; scrolling lyrics, animated graphics, or frequent scene changes put more demand on the image at the same bitrate.

| Setting | Starting value | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | 1280×720 | A modest starting point for a low-motion playlist visual. |
| Frame rate | 30 fps | Start here for a static image or simple visualizer. Consider 60 fps only if motion benefits and both PC and network can sustain it. |
| Video encoder | H.264 | YouTube’s cited bitrate recommendations are for H.264. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube specifies constant bitrate for this streaming setup. |
| Video bitrate | 3,000 Kbps | YouTube recommends 3 Mbps for 720p/30; its stated minimum is 2 Mbps and maximum is 6 Mbps. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio | AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps | YouTube’s stated stereo recommendation. Check the actual stream for silence or clipping. |
These YouTube recommendations and ranges are from its live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance. OBS also notes that consistent keyframe intervals can help smooth quality-selection transitions.

Try an available hardware encoder first
If OBS offers a supported hardware encoder on your computer, try it before relying on x264. Hardware encoding moves work from the CPU to a specialized GPU component and generally has minimal performance impact, according to OBS. However, older hardware encoders can produce lower image quality than newer ones at the same bitrate. Check the preview and stream playback rather than assuming hardware encoding will look best.

Use x264 if hardware encoding is unavailable or unstable
If you need software encoding, choose a faster x264 preset and watch OBS for encoding overload. There is no universally correct preset without knowing the computer’s CPU and other specifications. If the encoder falls behind, reduce the output resolution or frame rate as well as using a faster preset; do not keep settings the PC cannot encode reliably.
OBS’s explanation of hardware encoding describes its CPU-load advantage and the quality trade-off across encoder generations. The actual result depends on the hardware available in your PC.

Configure the stream and connect YouTube
- Check channel eligibility. Live streaming must be enabled on the YouTube channel. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming enablement guidance.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. YouTube says the key tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it, so treat it like a password. Do not share it or display it in a screenshot or recording. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the connection process.
- Set OBS output and audio. Configure the resolution, frame rate, encoder, bitrate, keyframe interval, and audio profile shown above. Add the playlist audio source and the intended cover art or visualizer. Check that desktop audio is not also capturing the same music, which can cause duplication.
- Confirm audio is reaching OBS. Play the playlist and check that the relevant OBS audio meter moves. Listen for clipping, silence, and unintended computer sounds.
- Run a test stream before the real broadcast. Use an unlisted test if you do not want viewers to find it. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then view playback from another device. Use the actual playlist audio and representative visuals; YouTube specifically recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended stream. Its encoder guidance also recommends monitoring stream health and audio/video quality.
Make sure the upload connection has headroom
A stable connection matters as much as a bitrate the PC can encode. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Include other upload activity on the same connection when judging whether it has enough capacity; a speed-test result is not reserved entirely for OBS.
If your connection cannot reliably carry the starting profile with that headroom, reduce the bitrate and, if needed, resolution rather than pushing the connection to its limit. YouTube’s live encoder guidance covers upload capacity and stream testing.

Clear music rights before streaming
A track playing in a browser or appearing in a playlist does not establish permission to rebroadcast it in a YouTube livestream. Confirm rights for every track and relevant territory, and check that the permission explicitly covers live streaming and any archived replay. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance instructs creators to respect audio and video rights; it does not establish clearance for a particular Bengali playlist.
- Check the actual license terms for each track, rather than relying on a general “royalty-free” label.
- Confirm the allowed territory and whether live use and replay or archival use are included.
- Follow any attribution requirements and check how the rights holder handles Content ID claims.
Do not assume a music service or a track’s availability grants YouTube livestream rights. The permission must cover your exact use.

Troubleshoot a test that is not stable
| Symptom | Likely area | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| OBS reports encoding overload or the video stutters despite a stable connection | Encoder or PC load | Try a working hardware encoder already available, use a faster x264 preset, or lower resolution or frame rate. |
| YouTube reports network-dropped frames or stream health is poor | Upload capacity or instability | Check upload speed and competing uploads, preserve the recommended 20% headroom, and lower the stream bitrate if needed. |
| The image looks poor at the chosen bitrate | Visual motion or encoder quality | Check the stream at its intended playback quality. Simplify moving graphics or scrolling text, and test a suitable encoder; older hardware encoders may look worse at the same bitrate. |
| The music is silent, clipped, doubled, or mixed with unwanted sounds | OBS audio sources or levels | Check which audio meter moves, listen to the stream itself, and remove duplicate desktop capture or adjust the source causing clipping. |
| The stream does not connect to YouTube | Channel eligibility or stream credentials | Confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct stream URL and key are in OBS, and the key has not been exposed or replaced in YouTube Studio. |
