1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor most SaaS products, Google is the conventional starting point for third-party sign-in; Apple is a strong option when Apple users and browser support matter; and ChatGPT sign-in is worth considering only if its identity or separately authorized plan features fit your product and OpenAI has admitted you to its limited commercial trial. None of these buttons replaces your own account, session, enterprise sign-in, or authorization system.
How to choose an OAuth provider for your SaaS
Start with your users and the job the integration must do—not with the provider’s brand. If you need sign-in, use an identity flow and request only the claims needed to establish an account. If you also need access to a provider’s APIs or paid product features, that is a separate authorization decision, usually involving additional scopes and user consent.

- Choose Google when you want a documented OpenID Connect route for broad SaaS sign-in, or when users may separately connect Google APIs such as Drive or Calendar.
- Choose Apple when Apple users are an important audience or you need a sign-in option that Apple documents for its operating systems and browsers.
- Investigate ChatGPT when ChatGPT account identity or a separately authorized use of a ChatGPT plan is specifically useful—and only after confirming that your service can participate in OpenAI’s limited commercial sign-in trial.
These are implementation-based fits, not measured conversion or adoption rankings. The official provider documentation cited here does not establish that one option improves sign-up rates or is more secure than the others.
How the providers compare
| Decision point | Sign in with ChatGPT | Sign in with Google | Sign in with Apple |
|---|---|---|---|
| Availability | OpenAI says commercial website sign-in is in a limited trial for selected partners. End-user access is through participating sites and may be affected by organization settings. OpenAI developer documentation; OpenAI Help Center. | Google publishes an OpenID Connect implementation and setup guidance for developers. Google OpenID Connect. | Apple documents use across its listed operating systems and in browsers. Apple Sign in with Apple. |
| What sign-in establishes | Identity scopes can provide a stable account identifier and basic profile details. They do not expose ChatGPT conversations or OpenAI API resources. OpenAI developer documentation; OpenAI Help Center. | OpenID Connect provides an ID token. Access to Google APIs requires additional scopes and user authorization. Google OpenID Connect. | On the web, Apple returns the user object only on first authorization; email is present in the identity token on later requests. Apple web configuration. |
| Important setup work | Obtain client access, register exact callback URLs, use Authorization Code with PKCE, validate the ID token, and create your own app session. OpenAI developer documentation. | Configure a Google Cloud project, OAuth credentials, redirect URI, and consent-screen branding; validate the ID token and request only necessary scopes. Google OpenID Connect. | Follow Apple’s platform and web setup and user-interface guidance; save first-authorization profile data when it is provided. Apple Sign in with Apple; Apple web configuration. |
Sign-in does not mean access to a user’s data
OAuth is commonly used to authorize an app to access a resource. OpenID Connect (OIDC) adds an identity layer so an app can verify who signed in. A provider’s login flow is not blanket permission to read everything associated with a user’s account.

- ChatGPT: OpenAI distinguishes identity scopes such as
openid profile emailfrom optional scopes for using a ChatGPT plan. Signing in does not give your SaaS access to conversations, memory, files, tokens, or billing information. A feature that uses a ChatGPT plan requires separate authorization. OpenAI developer documentation; OpenAI Help Center. - Google: Basic identity claims are separate from scopes for Drive, Calendar, or other Google APIs. Request the additional scopes only if a product feature needs them. Google cautions that asking for more scopes makes consent less likely. Google OpenID Connect.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple is for voluntarily setting up an account and signing in; it is not general authorization to Apple services or data. Follow Apple’s stated usage and interface guidance. Apple Sign in with Apple.
Explain the feature that needs any additional permission when you ask for it, and give users an appropriate way to manage or unlink the connection.
What your SaaS must handle for every provider
Provider sign-in is one input to your app’s own identity and access controls. OpenAI’s developer guidance puts it plainly: “Your application owns account creation, enterprise sign-in policy, sessions, authorization, and connector access.” OpenAI developer documentation.

- FIDO Certified Security Key - Meets FIDO and FIDO2 standards. Works with Google, Microsoft, GitHub, Dropbox, and more. Please check service compatibility before purchase.
- Passwordless Login with Passkey - Supports passkey login via WebAuthn and CTAP2. Enjoy password-free sign-ins where supported. Not all websites or services currently support passkeys.
- Advanced Multi-Factor Authentication - Offers 200 FIDO2 passkey slots and 50 OATH-TOTP slots. Strong, flexible 2FA/MFA support across various apps and authentication platforms.
- Register the application correctly. Set up the provider project or client, configure allowed redirect or callback URLs for each environment, and complete any consent-screen or platform setup the provider requires.
- Use a protected authentication flow. Follow the provider’s documented flow; OpenAI’s current website guidance specifies Authorization Code with PKCE. Maintain transaction state and use exact registered callbacks.
- Validate the provider’s token on your backend. Check its signature and relevant issuer and audience details before treating the identity as authenticated. Do not trust unverified data supplied by the browser.
- Link accounts with a stable provider identifier. Store the provider’s stable subject or account ID alongside your local account. Do not use email as the only account key: addresses can change, and the Google guidance explicitly recommends using the OIDC
subclaim as the unique identifier. Google OpenID Connect. - Create your own session and apply your own access rules. A valid provider sign-in does not decide which SaaS organization, roles, data, or features the user may access. Keep those decisions in your application.

ChatGPT: check eligibility before you build around it
OpenAI’s developer documentation describes commercial sign-in on websites as a limited trial for selected partners, so a SaaS team should confirm access before making it a promised login option. End users can sign in at participating partner sites, and organization settings may affect availability. OpenAI’s user-facing availability guidance also describes supported connected-app flows; that does not make commercial website access generally available. OpenAI developer documentation; OpenAI Help Center.

Google: use subject IDs and verify Workspace restrictions
Google warns that email addresses can change, so use the signed OIDC sub claim as the stable account identifier. If you restrict sign-in to a Google Workspace domain, validate the signed hd claim; do not rely on the text of an email address or an account-picker hint as proof of domain membership. Google OpenID Connect.
Apple: capture profile data on the first authorization
Apple’s web configuration guidance says the user object is returned only the first time someone authorizes the app. Persist any supplied profile fields at that point rather than assuming you can retrieve them on the next sign-in. The email is present in the identity token on later requests. Apple web configuration.

Make the choice against your product requirements
- For identity-only sign-in: Compare provider availability in your intended markets and platforms, user expectations, implementation effort, and the account data you can reliably receive.
- For provider API features: Treat the API connection as a separate product capability. Identify each required scope, explain why it is needed, and request it only when the user reaches the feature that needs it where the flow permits.
- For enterprise customers: Confirm how the provider choice fits the customer’s SSO and workspace policies. Do not assume consumer social sign-in satisfies enterprise access requirements.
- For account recovery and linking: Decide how users can recover access if they lose a provider account, and how your product handles an email change or a second provider linked to the same local account.
There is no source-backed universal winner. Select providers based on actual audience and platform requirements, and keep your account model independent enough to support more than one identity route when needed.
