Nvidia vs. Broadcom: Whose AI Revenue Is Growing Faster—and What Comes Next?

Broadcom reported faster year-over-year growth in its AI semiconductor line than NVIDIA did in Data Center revenue. The different segment definitions and fiscal periods make that a momentum comparison, not a reliable forecast of who grows faster next.

Broadcom currently has the higher reported year-over-year growth rate in an explicitly labeled AI revenue line, but that does not establish which company’s AI revenue will grow faster from here. Broadcom reported AI semiconductor revenue growth of 221% for Q3 FY2026. NVIDIA reported Data Center revenue growth of 117% for Q2 FY2027. Those figures come from different fiscal quarters and differently defined business lines, so they are evidence of momentum—not a like-for-like forecast.

What the latest results show

Company Latest reported period Reported AI-related revenue line Year-over-year growth Quarter-over-quarter growth
Broadcom Q3 FY2026, ended August 2, 2026 AI semiconductor revenue: $16.7 billion 221% 54%
NVIDIA Q2 FY2027, ended July 26, 2026 Data Center revenue: $89.0 billion 117% not stated in the cited Q2 FY2027 release

Broadcom’s figures are from its Q3 FY2026 results release; NVIDIA’s are from its Q2 FY2027 results release. The periods are not the same: Broadcom’s quarter ended August 2, while NVIDIA’s ended July 26. More importantly, Broadcom explicitly reports “AI semiconductor revenue,” while NVIDIA reports the broader “Data Center” segment. These percentages therefore should not be presented as identical measures of AI revenue growth.

Why a faster growth rate does not settle the forecast

The headline growth rates answer a historical question: how quickly each company’s named revenue line grew compared with the year-earlier period. They do not, by themselves, show which company will post faster AI-related growth in future quarters. Growth rates can differ because of what a company includes in a segment, the timing of customer shipments, and the comparison period. The disclosures here do not provide a common definition or a direct company-by-company forecast of AI revenue.

The dollar figures also show why growth percentages need context. NVIDIA reported $89.0 billion in Data Center revenue for Q2 FY2027, while Broadcom reported $16.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue for Q3 FY2026. Those are substantial but differently defined lines, reported in non-matching fiscal quarters. The larger NVIDIA figure is not a direct measure of AI-only revenue, and the higher Broadcom percentage is not proof that Broadcom will maintain that rate.

What NVIDIA’s outlook says—and does not say

Near-term company guidance

NVIDIA reported Q2 FY2027 total revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year. For Q3 FY2027, it forecast total company revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. The company said that outlook assumed no Data Center compute revenue from China. This is dated company guidance for total revenue, not an AI-only revenue forecast; the China assumption is specific to the stated outlook, not a general claim about future sales.

Management’s longer-range expectation

On the August 26, 2026 earnings call, CFO Colette M. Kress said, “We expect to grow revenue by approximately 70% in fiscal 2028. This is a supply-constrained outlook.” That is management’s forward-looking expectation for company revenue, not a realized result, a guarantee, or a forecast specifically for AI revenue. The transcript is available in NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2027 earnings-call materials.

What Broadcom’s recent results say about momentum

Broadcom reported Q2 FY2026 AI semiconductor revenue of $10.8 billion, up 143% year over year. At the time, it expected Q3 AI semiconductor revenue to grow more than 200% year over year to $16.0 billion. Its next release reported $16.7 billion for Q3, up 221% year over year and 54% sequentially. This sequence shows strong growth in Broadcom’s own reported AI semiconductor line; it does not make that line directly comparable to NVIDIA Data Center revenue.

Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 total revenue was $29.6 billion, up 86% year over year. It guided to approximately $34.8 billion in total revenue for Q4 FY2026, but that release did not provide a Q4 AI-specific revenue forecast. The Q4 figure is company guidance, not a realized result, and Broadcom cautioned that actual results may vary materially. Its earlier AI forecast appears in the Q2 FY2026 results release.

So whose AI revenue grows faster from here?

The latest disclosed growth rate favors Broadcom’s explicitly named AI semiconductor line: 221% year over year, compared with 117% growth in NVIDIA’s broader Data Center segment. But these disclosures do not establish a forward winner. NVIDIA’s near-term and fiscal 2028 outlooks concern total company revenue, while Broadcom’s latest Q4 outlook is also for total revenue; the cited Broadcom Q3 release gives no Q4 AI-specific forecast. As of October 5, 2026, the careful conclusion is that Broadcom’s reported AI semiconductor growth is faster in its latest release, while which company’s AI revenue will grow faster next remains unresolved by the available company disclosures.
