NVIDIA’s October 13, 2026 NVIDIA app beta adds Preset C, a Frame Generation Performance Mode that replaces one of DLSS’s two AI models with a faster, lighter optical-flow algorithm. NVIDIA says it can boost frame rates by up to 35% on a GeForce RTX 5060, while acknowledging minor image-quality trade-offs. That figure is NVIDIA’s claim for one named GPU—not a guaranteed uplift across every supported card or game.
What Preset C changes
DLSS Frame Generation uses two AI models, according to NVIDIA. One uses game data such as motion vectors and depth to understand how objects move between rendered frames. The second calculates optical flow for elements such as user-interface elements and ray-traced effects.

Preset C replaces that second model with what NVIDIA describes as a faster, lighter algorithm. The change is intended to reduce the processing cost of frame generation; it does not replace the first model. NVIDIA says the mode applies to DLSS Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
What NVIDIA’s up-to-35% claim means
NVIDIA says Preset C is “up to 35% faster” on a GeForce RTX 5060. The company’s October 13 announcement does not provide a detailed test methodology, a list of tested games, or results for other GPU models. Treat the figure as an upper-end NVIDIA claim for the named card, not a typical result or promise for all supported hardware.

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
VideoCardz also notes the absence of detailed comparisons across GPUs and games: its report does not supply a multi-game benchmark set. No independent, repeatable multi-game test is established here, so the size of any real-world gain—and how it varies by title or system—remains uncertain.
Image quality and what to weigh
NVIDIA acknowledges “minor trade-offs in image quality” but does not quantify them or identify specific artifacts in its announcement. Because the feature changes optical-flow processing for elements including UI and ray-traced effects, compare your own games and scenes rather than assuming the trade-off will look the same everywhere.

- Try Preset C when your priority is reducing frame-generation processing overhead or seeking a higher frame rate.
- Compare it with the current setting in the same game and scene, paying attention to UI, fast movement, and ray-traced effects.
- Switch back if the visual compromise is noticeable or the performance change is not useful to you.
Supported hardware and beta availability
NVIDIA lists GeForce RTX 40 Series and RTX 50 Series GPUs, plus RTX Spark laptops, as supported. Preset C arrives through an NVIDIA app beta update, so having supported hardware alone does not mean the setting is available in a stable app version. NVIDIA’s announcement does not establish compatibility for other GPU generations.

How to enable Preset C in the NVIDIA app beta
- Install the newest NVIDIA app beta update.
- Open Settings > About, opt in to beta or experimental features, and install the update when prompted.
- Open Graphics. Select a supported game that uses Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, or Dynamic Frame Generation, or choose Global Settings.
- Under Driver Settings, open DLSS Override – Model Presets.
- Select Custom, choose Preset C from the Frame Generation dropdown, then click Apply.
These are NVIDIA’s beta setup instructions. Menu labels, availability, supported games, and compatibility may change in later NVIDIA app updates.
