The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro costs more for a more premium aluminium build, a different Glyph light system, a slightly larger display and a higher-tier Snapdragon chip. The standard Phone (4a) keeps the transparent design and Glyph Bar for less. Their camera specifications overlap substantially, and the Pro’s higher advertised zoom ceiling is not proof of better photos.

In its March 5, 2026 comparison, T3 listed the base model as unavailable in the USA and the Pro at $499 for 8GB/128GB and $599 for 12GB/256GB. How much more does the Pro cost?
At the March 2026 UK launch, the Pro carried a £150 premium over the Phone (4a) for 8GB/128GB. The gap was also £150 for the 12GB/256GB versions. Those figures are useful for understanding the launch positioning, but not for deciding what to pay now: Nothing’s UK Phone (4a) Pro product page displayed £519 for the selected 8GB/128GB configuration when accessed on October 5, 2026. Build, protection and Glyph lights
The phones take different approaches to Nothing’s distinctive design. Tech Advisor describes the Phone (4a) as having a plastic frame, glass back and semi-transparent finish, with a Glyph Bar made from 63 mini-LEDs. It describes the Pro as an aluminium unibody with a circular Glyph Matrix containing 137 mini-LEDs. T3 likewise characterizes the Pro as aluminium and the base model as plastic. The LED counts and IP ratings here are reported by Tech Advisor; they are not a like-for-like specification sheet from Nothing.

Tech Advisor lists IP64 protection for the Phone (4a) and IP65 for the Pro. These ratings distinguish the models on ingress protection, but do not make either phone waterproof. If protection is a deciding factor, consult the manufacturer’s documentation for the precise conditions and limitations.
Display: a small size gap, with different reported claims
T3 lists a 6.78-inch screen on the Phone (4a) and a 6.83-inch screen on the Pro, describing the Pro as somewhat brighter. Nothing’s Pro launch announcement specifies a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, 450 PPI and a 144Hz refresh rate. Nothing describes the base model as having a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, with peak HDR brightness of 4,500 nits and 1,600 nits under normal use.
Those brightness figures refer to different stated modes, so they should not be treated as a direct comparison. The cited material does not provide comparative lab measurements for the two screens. The official details are in Nothing’s Phone (4a) Pro launch announcement and Phone (4a) launch announcement.

Camera hardware and zoom: similar foundations, different headline ceiling
The camera systems overlap on paper. T3 lists a 50MP main camera, 50MP 3.5x telephoto, 8MP ultrawide and 32MP selfie camera for both models, while noting a slight main-sensor improvement on the Pro. Tech Advisor specifies a larger Sony LYT700c main sensor on the Pro and reports 50MP telephoto cameras on both phones.
For zoom, Tech Advisor reports a ceiling of up to 70x hybrid zoom on the Phone (4a) and 140x on the Pro. Nothing’s Pro product page calls this “World’s first 140x ultra zoom”—manufacturer marketing language, not an independent finding about image quality. A maximum hybrid or digital zoom figure does not establish how much useful detail a photo retains at that magnification. The cited coverage does not establish a controlled head-to-head camera result, so specifications alone cannot settle which takes better everyday pictures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Processor, memory and battery
T3 reports a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in the Phone (4a) and a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the Pro. Its comparison lists 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB configurations for both. The different processor tiers indicate a specification difference, but do not quantify the speed gap in everyday use or under sustained load.

T3 reports 5,080mAh batteries for both models in most markets and notes that the Pro has a larger battery in India. That regional exception matters when comparing listings; the cited material does not establish comparable runtime results. It also does not establish an update-support duration for either phone.

Choose the Phone (4a) if
- You want the lower-cost option at comparable launch-era UK configurations.
- You prefer the transparent design, glass back and Glyph Bar.
- The Pro’s aluminium construction, Matrix lights and higher zoom specification are not priorities.
Choose the Phone (4a) Pro if
- You value an aluminium unibody and the circular Glyph Matrix.
- You want the slightly larger screen and the Pro’s listed 144Hz refresh rate.
- You want the higher-tier listed processor and the larger advertised hybrid-zoom ceiling, while recognizing these specifications do not prove a particular real-world performance or photo-quality advantage.
For either phone, compare the current price in your country and the exact RAM/storage configuration. The difference is clearest in materials and features; the available evidence does not show that every buyer will benefit equally from paying more for the Pro.
