Nothing Phone (4a) Pro: Pros and Cons

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro pairs a distinctive design, 144Hz display, and telephoto camera with camera consistency, wireless charging, price, and compatibility trade-offs.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is a strong fit if you want a distinctive metal design, a large 144Hz display, and a dedicated telephoto camera. Its main compromises are less consistent camera performance than leading camera phones, no wireless charging, and a price premium over the standard Phone (4a). US buyers should also confirm carrier compatibility for the exact model before ordering.

At a glance: the main pros and cons

Pros Cons
  • Distinctive design and metal body, according to TechRadar; GSMArena says its build and ingress protection improve on the standard Phone (4a).
  • Large 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
  • Three rear cameras, including a periscope telephoto camera.
  • Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and Nothing OS software experience.
  • Camera quality is not as consistently strong as the phone’s design and display, per TechRadar.
  • No wireless charging.
  • Costs more than the standard Phone (4a); value depends on the current local price gap.
  • US carrier support may be an issue; check your carrier and the specific regional model.

The specifications and review impressions above are summarized by TechRadar, GSMArena, and Android Authority.

What stands out about the Phone (4a) Pro?

Design and build

The Pro’s metal body gives it a different look and feel from the standard Phone (4a), whose transparent-back styling may appeal more to some buyers. TechRadar praises the Pro’s distinct appearance, while GSMArena describes its build and ingress protection as improvements over the standard model. These are reviewer assessments, not a guarantee that the Pro is the right choice for every design preference.

A big, fast display

TechRadar lists a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with 2,800 × 1,260 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It describes the screen as large and bright, while noting that colors are less vibrant than on some flagships. The high refresh rate and size should appeal to people who prioritize smooth scrolling and plenty of screen space; color preferences are more subjective.

A dedicated telephoto camera

The rear camera specifications listed by TechRadar are a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. WIRED describes the telephoto as offering 3.5x zoom and values having that option at this price. TechRadar’s overall assessment is more reserved: it considers the camera decent, but not among the phone’s strongest features.

Nothing’s product page uses the phrase “World’s first 140x ultra zoom*.” That is a manufacturer marketing claim, not 140x optical zoom: the reviewed specifications describe a 3.5x telephoto camera, and the high-magnification figure should not be confused with its optical zoom. The claim appears on Nothing’s UK product listing.

Performance and software

TechRadar lists a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, Android 16, and Nothing OS 4.1. In its review, it reports no noticeable lag or hanging during use. That is one reviewer’s experience rather than a guarantee about every workload or future software version.

Android Authority describes the update policy as three years of updates and six years of security patches, and judges that policy weak against some competitors. Check Nothing’s current support information when comparing phones, since support terms can change and a review’s description is not a promise of future policy.

Where are the compromises?

Camera consistency

The telephoto camera adds useful framing flexibility, but a three-camera setup does not by itself mean every camera or lighting condition will produce flagship-level results. TechRadar’s review calls the overall camera decent while identifying it as a weaker area than the phone’s stronger features. WIRED, by contrast, highlights the value of having the 3.5x telephoto. If camera consistency is your top priority, compare sample images and reviews with the specific phones you are considering rather than relying on the zoom headline alone.

No wireless charging

TechRadar’s specifications list 50W wired charging and no wireless charging. If wireless charging is part of your everyday setup, the Pro does not provide that convenience.

Battery figures and real-world results vary

Published battery capacities conflict: TechRadar lists 5,080mAh, while 91mobiles reports 5,400mAh. The available reporting does not resolve whether that difference reflects a regional or model variation, so neither figure should be treated as universally definitive.

91mobiles reports a 13-hour-49-minute PCMark battery test and about five hours of average screen time in its own daily use. TechRadar says its review use fell short of Nothing’s estimates. Those are separate reviewers’ results under different conditions, not directly comparable measures or a prediction of what every owner will get. How much does it cost, and is it worth the premium?

TechRadar reports launch list prices of $499 in the US, £499 in the UK, and AU$949 in Australia. These are launch prices, not guaranteed current offers. At access on October 5, 2026, Nothing’s UK listing showed £519 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage selection. Prices and configurations vary by market and can change, so check the local listing before buying.

The standard Phone (4a) is the key comparison if you are deciding whether the Pro is worth paying more for. The Pro’s case is strongest when its metal build, bigger high-refresh-rate screen, and telephoto camera matter to you; if those features do not, compare current local prices before assuming the premium is worthwhile. Android Authority also names Pixel and Samsung phones as alternatives, but the right comparison depends on the models and prices available where you live.

Check compatibility and what comes in the box

Confirm carrier support before buying

Android Authority warns that US carrier support can be an issue. The available reviews do not provide a complete carrier-by-carrier compatibility matrix. Before ordering in the US, check your carrier’s compatibility tool against the exact regional handset SKU; do not assume a listing for a similarly named model guarantees service on your network.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verify the regional package contents

91mobiles reports that its reviewed package did not include a charger. Package contents can vary by region, so check the box contents for the exact local model before buying a USB-C PD charger. Do not assume that a charger is included—or that it is absent—based on another region’s review.

Who should buy the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro?

  • Consider it if you value a distinctive design, a large 144Hz screen, Nothing’s software experience, and a dedicated telephoto camera.
  • Compare alternatives first if top-tier camera consistency or wireless charging is essential.
  • Check carefully before ordering if you are buying in the US, where carrier compatibility depends on your carrier and the exact model.
  • Compare against the standard Phone (4a) using current local prices and the features you will actually use.

WIRED gives the phone 7/10 in its review. That rating is one publication’s judgment, not a substitute for weighing the trade-offs above against your needs.
