The newer Phone (4b) has a slightly larger listed battery, but that does not prove longer real-world runtime. In the European 8/128 GB price references available here, the two are essentially the same price—so compare local prices and choose based on camera needs, not a presumed overall winner.

Which phone has the better cameras?
The Phone (3a) has the more varied published camera setup. Nothing lists a 50 MP OIS main camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom, and an 8 MP ultrawide. That gives it stated options for standard shots, closer subjects, and wider scenes.

Are the displays different enough to matter?
Nothing specifies a 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display for the Phone (3a), with adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 3000 nits. PhoneArena lists the Phone (4b) display at 6.8 inches. The listed sizes are close; the available information does not establish which screen is brighter, more accurate, or easier to read outdoors in real use.
Does the Phone (4b) last longer on a charge?
PhoneArena lists 5200 mAh for the Phone (4b) and 5000 mAh for the Phone (3a). The 4b therefore has the higher listed capacity, but battery capacity alone cannot predict runtime across different hardware and usage. Nothing calls the 4b battery “Our longest-lasting battery”; that is manufacturer marketing, not a controlled comparison against the 3a. No comparable endurance test is established here.

Nothing’s UK collection page showed the Phone (4b) at £299 and the Phone (3a) from £299 or £329 depending on the listing. Because configuration, stock, discounts, and retailer prices can change, compare the same memory tier in your country and confirm the live checkout price before deciding.
Which should you buy?
Choose the Phone (3a) if camera flexibility matters most
Its published telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom and separate ultrawide give it more stated rear-camera roles. It is also the only one of the two for which the available material specifies a processor: Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. That is not enough to make a performance comparison.
Consider the Phone (4b) if its local offer or newer release suits you
PhoneArena reports a July 2026 release for the 4b, compared with March 2025 for the 3a. The 4b also has a higher listed battery capacity. Neither fact by itself establishes a longer support period or better battery life, so check the seller’s current support details and local price rather than assuming an advantage.
Quick Recap
Check before ordering
- Match storage and memory configurations; the price comparison above is for 8/128 GB.
- Confirm the current price, stock, warranty, and return terms in your market.
- Check carrier and network compatibility for your country.
- Decide whether you will use a telephoto and ultrawide camera, rather than choosing by megapixel counts alone.
- Look for comparable independent battery, display, and camera tests if those are decisive; the specifications cited here do not settle those questions.
