The Motorola Edge 70 Max has the larger, sharper, faster-refreshing display and a bigger battery with faster charging on paper. The Nothing Phone (3) counters with a dedicated 3x telephoto camera in its three-camera rear system. There is no independent head-to-head test here to establish which is faster, lasts longer, or takes better photos. Price is also not a fair direct comparison across the available listings: Nothing’s cited listing is for the US, while Motorola’s is for India.

How the displays compare
Motorola lists the larger panel: 6.82 inches versus 6.67 inches. Its stated 1440 × 3168 resolution is also higher than the Phone (3)’s 1260 × 2800, and its maximum refresh rate is 144 Hz versus 120 Hz. Those figures favor the Edge 70 Max on screen size, pixel count and supported refresh rate; they do not establish which screen looks better in everyday use.

Motorola also lists peak brightness of 7000 nits. That is a manufacturer-reported lab figure for specific scenarios, not a claim of sustained brightness in normal use. Motorola says specifications can differ by market, so check the local model’s details before treating any regional specification as applicable to your purchase.

The listed chips are Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for Phone (3) and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for Edge 70 Max. The names and generations alone are not a like-for-like performance test. No independent comparable benchmark or head-to-head performance test is established for these two phones here, so the specifications cannot support a reliable claim that one is faster in actual apps, games or sustained workloads.
#1 Best Overall
- Hybrid technology that is made of a TPU bumper with a durable PC back
- Crystal clear transparency flaunts original phone design
- Raised bezels lift screen and camera off flat surfaces
- Pronounced buttons are easy to feel and press, while large cutouts fit most cables
- Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case Compatible with Nothing Phone (3)
Memory and storage options also depend on the market and source: the cited Phone (3) review reports 12 GB/256 GB and 16 GB/512 GB, while the US store selection is 12 GB/256 GB. Motorola India lists 8 GB/256 GB and 12 GB/256 GB, and Motorola’s regional support page gives an 8 GB/256 GB entry. Compare the exact configuration sold locally rather than assuming these lineups are universal.
Camera systems: telephoto versus main-and-ultrawide coverage
Phone (3)’s cited review describes three 50 MP rear cameras, including a dedicated 3x telephoto. That gives it a distinct camera type for optical zoom compared with the Edge 70 Max specification cited here. Motorola lists a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 710 main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8 MP ultrawide/macro camera.

This is a comparison of listed hardware, not a verdict on photo quality. Sensor, processing and shooting conditions affect results, and no independent head-to-head camera test is established for this pair. Choose based on the camera perspective you value—particularly whether a dedicated telephoto is important—rather than treating megapixel counts as a quality ranking.
Battery and charging: larger numbers, not proven endurance
Motorola specifies a 7100 mAh typical battery capacity and 6890 mAh rated capacity; the Phone (3) review reports 5150 mAh. Motorola also lists 90 W wired charging and 25 W Qi2 wireless charging, compared with the Phone (3)’s reported 65 W wired and 15 W wireless charging. These figures give the Edge 70 Max an advantage on stated capacity and charging rates, but they do not prove longer battery life or faster charging in matched conditions.

Motorola’s published battery-life estimates differ between its regional materials: the support page says “up to 73 hours,” while the India product page surfaced “up to 58 hours.” These are manufacturer estimates, not comparable independent endurance results; they should not be combined or generalized across markets. Motorola also notes that a 90 W charger may be sold separately in some markets, so check what is included with the exact regional package.
Durability and software support
Water and dust resistance
TechRadar lists an IP68 rating for Phone (3). Motorola’s regional support page lists IP69/IP68 and MIL-STD 810H for Edge 70 Max, with a warning that specifications can vary by market. These ratings describe defined protection or testing classifications; they do not guarantee that a phone will remain undamaged in every exposure or after wear and damage.

- Full visibility and usage of Glyph Interface lights
- Anti-slip embossed texture for a secure grip
- Non-yellowing TPU bumper and polycarbonate back
- Supports wireless charging
- Built-in strap holes to attach wrist straps and other accessories
Updates
Motorola’s regional support page lists Android 16, up to three years of OS updates and five years of security updates through July 2031. The cited Phone (3) review gives Android 15 as its launch software but does not establish a current Nothing update commitment. That missing figure is not evidence that Nothing provides no updates; it means this source set does not support a complete update-policy comparison.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider Motorola Edge 70 Max if its listed larger, higher-resolution 144 Hz display, higher stated battery capacity, faster charging, or regional update commitment best fits your priorities. Treat the battery-life claims as estimates, and confirm the local specifications and charger package.
- Consider Nothing Phone (3) if a dedicated 3x telephoto camera is a priority, or if its locally available price and configuration are more attractive after checking current offers.
- Wait for independent side-by-side results if your decision depends on real-world speed, endurance, camera output or sustained screen brightness. The cited specifications alone cannot settle those questions.
Overall, the Edge 70 Max has the stronger listed display and battery/charging specifications, while Phone (3) offers a dedicated telephoto camera. Which is better value depends on local prices, configuration and the features you will use; the available cross-market prices do not establish a winner.
