Nothing Phone (3) is the stronger specifications-led choice, with the higher-tier Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a higher-resolution display and four 50MP cameras. Phone (3a) Pro makes a distinct case with its 3x optical periscope zoom and advertised 60x ultra zoom. There is no reliable single price difference to quote: current prices vary by country, configuration and promotion, and the available listings do not establish a matched comparison.

How the processors and cameras differ

Processor tier

Phone (3) lists the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while Phone (3a) Pro lists the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. That makes Phone (3) the higher-tier option on the specifications sheet. The listed chipsets alone do not prove how much faster one feels in a particular game or app; no independent benchmark or thermal comparison is established here.

Zoom and camera hardware

Both phones list a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Phone (3a) Pro’s official page additionally advertises up to 60x ultra zoom, while Phone (3) is described as having four 50MP cameras in total. These specifications distinguish the camera setups, but megapixel counts and zoom labels do not determine which phone takes better real-world photos. There is no independent head-to-head camera test established here.

Display, battery and charging trade-offs

Phone (3a) Pro has the larger stated screen diagonal at 6.77 inches, compared with Phone (3)’s 6.67 inches. Phone (3), however, has a published resolution of 1260 × 2800 and pixel density of 460 ppi; the cited 3a Pro material specifies a 120Hz AMOLED screen but does not give comparable resolution figures.

Phone (3)’s listed 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are useful if you want to charge it wirelessly or top up compatible accessories. Nothing says a 1% to 50% charge takes under 20 minutes, but that manufacturer claim is not a comparative charging test. The 3a Pro India listing gives a 5000mAh battery capacity, and Nothing’s regional material includes its own battery and usage estimates. The available material does not establish a like-for-like independent battery-life comparison.

What is the price difference?

A definitive current difference cannot be stated without matching market, date, retailer and storage configuration. Nothing’s UK and Ireland preorder terms, dated 3 July 2025, set Phone (3)’s launch recommended retail prices at £799 for 12GB RAM/256GB storage and £899 for 16GB/512GB. Those are launch RRPs, not a guarantee of today’s price. Nothing’s surfaced store listings showed differing UK amounts for Phone (3), and a German store page showed €599 against a struck-through €799—evidence of regional pricing and promotion, not a universal price.

The available official 3a Pro listing material does not provide a current price matched to Phone (3) in the same market and storage tier. For a useful comparison, check both models’ live prices in your country on the same day, with the same RAM and storage where possible. Do not compare a launch RRP for one model with a sale price for the other, or treat a currency conversion as a local retail price.

Which Nothing phone should you choose?

Choose Phone (3) if

  • You want the higher-tier listed processor.
  • The four-camera, all-50MP specification or the higher published display resolution matters to you.
  • You value 15W wireless charging or reverse wireless charging enough to justify its locally verified price.

Choose Phone (3a) Pro if

  • You are prioritizing a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and its advertised 60x ultra zoom.
  • You prefer its larger stated display diagonal.
  • Its live price in your market is more attractive for the configuration you want.

Before buying either model, confirm the exact RAM/storage version, local availability and network compatibility for your carrier. Those details can vary by region. The available specifications do not establish a winner for real-world photo quality, gaming endurance, thermal performance or battery life.
