The Nothing Phone (3a) adds a dedicated 2× telephoto camera, uses a different processor platform, and lists a slightly larger display and 50 W charging. The Phone (2a) has a dual 50 MP rear-camera setup and 45 W charging. Nothing’s specifications show what changed, but they do not establish which phone is faster or takes better photos in practice. There is no reliable single price difference without comparing the same country, storage configuration, and date.

What changes most between the phones?
Camera flexibility: the 3a adds optical telephoto
The Phone (2a) lists two rear cameras: a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide. The Phone (3a) adds a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom, alongside a 50 MP main and an 8 MP ultra-wide. That gives the 3a a separate telephoto option for tighter framing. It does not, by itself, prove the 3a produces better photos overall; that requires comparable camera testing.
Processor: a platform change, not a proven speed upgrade
Nothing specifies a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro for the 2a and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 for the 3a. Their stated maximum clock speeds are not a valid direct performance ranking: real-world speed depends on more than clock frequency, and no independent comparative benchmark is established here.

Nothing lists peak brightness at 3,000 nits for the 3a and 1,300 nits for the 2a; these are manufacturer claims, not measurements from a shared test.
Battery and charging: same capacity, slightly different charging specs
Both phones list a 5,000 mAh battery. Nothing specifies 45 W charging and a claimed 59-minute full charge for the 2a, versus 50 W and a claimed 56-minute full charge for the 3a. The product-page figures do not establish how long charging takes under a particular user’s conditions.
