How to check a suspicious deal link
- Copy the link without opening it. On a phone, press and hold the link to preview or copy it.
- Go to Malwarebytes’ official Scam Link Check page by navigating to Malwarebytes directly, then paste the URL into the tool. Open Scam Link Check
- Read the verdict and its explanation. Malwarebytes says the tool checks for malicious sites, phishing pages, recently registered domains, and redirect chains. - Keep the result in perspective. If it says unknown, the risk is unresolved. If the offer still seems suspicious, do not enter credentials or payment information. Open Amazon using its official app or by typing its known address yourself, then search for the product.
What a safe result does—and does not—tell you
The checker evaluates a submitted URL. It does not establish whether the advertised price is genuine, the seller is trustworthy, the product is authentic, or the offer is still available. A safe result is therefore not a guarantee that the deal is legitimate. Confirm the listing, seller, price, and terms on Amazon’s official destination rather than relying on a link’s branding or appearance.

Warning signs to inspect before following an offer

- Misspelled or altered domains: Check the actual web address, not merely the text displayed for the link. A logo or product image does not prove a page belongs to Amazon.
- Shortened URLs: These can conceal the destination, so inspect the full address before deciding whether to proceed.
- Unexpected messages: Be wary of links sent by an unfamiliar sender or in a message you were not expecting.
- Urgent prompts: Pressure to act immediately is a reason to pause and verify the offer independently.
If you already clicked the link
Do not enter anything else on a page you now suspect. If you submitted account credentials, use a trusted device and the service’s official app or website to change the affected password. If you provided payment details, contact your bank or payment provider through a verified channel. What Malwarebytes has reported about scams
In its October 5, 2026 launch announcement, Malwarebytes reported an estimated $442 billion lost to scams globally in 2025 and roughly $21 billion lost by Americans that year. It also said 85% of people could no longer reliably tell a scam from a real message, compared with 66% a year earlier; the announcement does not detail the underlying methodology. These are company-reported figures, not independent measurements cited here. The same announcement said roughly one in five Scam Guard submissions were high-risk, defining high-risk as a situation that could lead to a loss of at least $1,000 or other personal harm.
