No. Raspberry Pi is an active company with current products and recent financial reporting. Its Raspberry Pi 5 product page says the board is expected to remain in production until at least January 2036. That is a stated production horizon for one product—not a guarantee about the company’s future.
Why Raspberry Pi is not “dead”
Raspberry Pi Holdings plc reports FY25 revenue of $323.2 million and more than 73 million units sold on its investor relations page. The page does not give a precise as-of date for the cumulative unit total, so it should be read as a company-reported scale figure, not a dated sales rate or forecast.

The company’s results index lists interim results for 2026, dated 24 September 2026, as well as its 2025 annual report and final results. That reporting activity, alongside an active product line, is evidence that the company is operating now.
Is Raspberry Pi still supported?
Raspberry Pi says the Pi 5 will remain in production until at least January 2036 on its official product page. This is a meaningful long-term commitment for people choosing the board for a project, but it applies to Pi 5 production; it does not promise indefinite support for every model, accessory, software release or the company itself.

- Includes Raspberry Pi 5 with 2.4Ghz 64-bit quad-core CPU (8GB RAM)
- Includes 128GB Micro SD Card pre-loaded with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, USB MicroSD Card Reader
- CanaKit Turbine Black Case for the Raspberry Pi 5
- CanaKit Low Noise Bearing System Fan
- Mega Heat Sink - Black Anodized
The same page says Raspberry Pi OS Trixie and legacy Bookworm work on Pi 5. Operating systems older than Bookworm do not. If you plan to reuse an older image or software stack, check its compatibility before buying.
Is Raspberry Pi still worth buying?
It can be, if the board’s capabilities and total setup cost fit your project. Pi 5 is a general-purpose computer Raspberry Pi positions for consumer, business and industrial uses, and the company says it is faster than Pi 4. The useful question is not whether the newest board is best for everyone, but whether its performance, memory and connections solve a need your project actually has.

- Includes Raspberry Pi 5 16GB with 2.4Ghz 64-bit quad-core CPU (16GB RAM)
- Includes 128GB Micro SD Card pre-loaded with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, USB MicroSD Card Reader
- CanaKit Turbine Black Case for the Raspberry Pi 5
- CanaKit Low Noise Bearing System Fan
- Mega Heat Sink - Black Anodized
- Workload: Choose based on the computing task. A project that does not need Pi 5’s additional performance may not benefit from paying for it.
- Memory: Pi 5 is listed in configurations from 1GB through 16GB. More RAM is useful only if the operating system and workload need it.
- Storage and I/O: Pi 5 includes microSD and PCIe 2.0 x1. PCIe-based M.2 storage requires a separate M.2 HAT or another adapter.
- Power and cooling: Raspberry Pi recommends a high-quality 5V/5A USB-C supply. Active cooling can help under heavy load.
- Existing equipment: A Pi 4 case will not fit Pi 5, so include a compatible case or mounting arrangement in the project plan.
- Total cost: Account for the power supply, case, cooling, storage adapter and any other accessories—not just the board.
The 1 October 2026 price announcement gives a dated example of why variant matters: Raspberry Pi said it raised the 2GB Pi 5 by $12.50 to $77.50, and the 2GB Pi 4 to $67.50. The company said other products, including the 1GB Pi 4 and Pi 5, were unchanged in that round. These are company-stated prices, not a guarantee of retailer prices, taxes or local availability. Check the price for the exact configuration in your market.

In that announcement, Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton said: “Whether you’re an individual customer or a business, price increases obviously impact your plans: we encourage you to make sure the Raspberry Pi products you buy are a good match for your requirements, and that you’re not paying for headroom you don’t need.”

What Pi 5 offers—and what a project needs
The Pi 5 product page lists a 64-bit quad-core 2.4GHz Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, VideoCore VII graphics, dual 4Kp60 HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3 and USB 2, two MIPI camera/display transceivers, microSD and PCIe 2.0 x1. These are options for different kinds of builds; most projects will use only some of them.
Before committing to a Pi 5 project, confirm that its operating system is Bookworm or newer, budget for an appropriate 5V/5A USB-C supply, and check the fit of the case and storage hardware. An under-powered supply can cause problems, and M.2 drives need a separate adapter.

Backed by a large global community, you can easily find guides, technical support and shared projects online
What “not dead” does—and does not—mean
The evidence supports a straightforward conclusion: Raspberry Pi is operating, reporting results and selling current products; Pi 5 also has a stated production horizon through at least January 2036. It does not establish future financial performance, guarantee that a particular model is in stock near you, or show that every project should use Pi 5. Choose by workload, required compatibility and complete project cost.
