NMDC dividend eligibility depends on the record date for the specific dividend, and its ex-dividend date should be checked against the exchange’s corporate-action listing. For FY 2025–26, NMDC’s ₹2.50 interim dividend had an ex-date and record date of 13 February 2026. A separate ₹1 final dividend was recommended, with 5 October 2026 announced as its record date subject to shareholder approval; the available exchange information does not establish its ex-date conclusively.
Which NMDC dividend and date are you checking?
NMDC has separate dividend actions, each with its own financial year, type and cutoff dates. The dates below refer to distinct corporate actions; an earlier record date is not a guide to a later dividend.

Who is eligible for an NMDC dividend?
NMDC uses the announced record date for a particular dividend to determine which members are entitled to it. Check the issuer’s notice for that dividend, then verify the corresponding exchange corporate action and any subsequent change. Eligibility is action-specific: owning NMDC shares around one dividend’s cutoff does not establish entitlement to another.

What if you buy on the ex-date?
A buyer on or after the ex-dividend date generally should not assume they will receive the dividend associated with that action. The ex-date is the exchange trading cutoff associated with entitlement. Confirm the date for the exact dividend rather than applying a universal rule without regard to the action and settlement rules in force.
What are the FY 2025–26 NMDC dividend dates?
First interim dividend: ₹2.50 per share
NMDC’s first interim dividend for FY 2025–26 was ₹2.50 per equity share. The exchange circular lists 13 February 2026 as both the ex-date and record date. This was a completed historical action, not a future eligibility opportunity. See the exchange circular.

Recommended final dividend: ₹1 per share
On 29 May 2026, NMDC recommended a ₹1 per-share final dividend for FY 2025–26, in addition to the ₹2.50 interim dividend already declared and paid. The recommendation was subject to shareholder approval at the ensuing AGM. NMDC’s 24 August 2026 notice said its 68th AGM would be held on 28 September 2026 and set 5 October 2026 as the record date for entitlement if the dividend was approved. Read NMDC’s notices.

Do not treat 5 October as an exchange-confirmed ex-date. The issuer notice supports it as the record date, while the surfaced exchange information was inconsistent with a secondary calendar listing. Check the authoritative exchange corporate-action entry for the final ex-date and confirm the dividend’s approval and payment status before relying on it.

How is NMDC dividend income taxed?
Dividend income is taxable to the shareholder. NMDC’s 2025 AGM notice states that dividends paid or distributed after 1 April 2020 are taxable in members’ hands and that the company deducts tax at source when paying a final dividend. The applicable tax rules depend on the actual payment and tax year, as well as the shareholder’s circumstances. TDS is a withholding or tax-credit mechanism; it does not necessarily equal the investor’s final tax liability.
Resident shareholders and TDS
NMDC’s FY 2024–25 AGM tax disclosure, which cites the Income-tax Act, 1961 framework, described 10% TDS for resident shareholders with a valid PAN and 20% where PAN was not available, subject to rates notified by the Government. It also described no TDS for a resident individual where total dividend expected from the company in that financial year did not exceed ₹5,000, and for qualifying Form 15G or Form 15H cases or other prescribed lower- or nil-withholding documents. The notice says PAN is required for those declarations or documents. These are the terms of that notice, not a guarantee that the same treatment applies to every later payment.

The Income Tax Department’s Section 194 text states a 10% resident-dividend withholding rate and provides a threshold rule for an individual where qualifying dividends paid otherwise than in cash do not exceed ₹5,000 in the financial year. Check the rule applicable to the specific payment and the shareholder’s situation rather than treating a TDS rate as the final tax rate.

Non-resident shareholders
NMDC’s notice described withholding for non-residents under Section 195 and other applicable provisions at 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess, or notified rates. It also described the possibility of a more beneficial tax-treaty rate under Section 90. The notice lists PAN, a tax residency certificate, Form 10F and declarations among the relevant documentation. Whether treaty treatment applies depends on the investor’s circumstances and complete documentation.

Which tax year includes the dividend?
The Income Tax Department’s Income-tax Act, 2025 Section 7 says dividends are treated as income in the tax year in which they are declared, distributed or paid. Interim dividends are treated as income in the year the amount is unconditionally made available to the entitled member. NMDC’s older AGM tax disclosure cites the 1961 Act, so determine the rules applicable to the actual dividend and tax year rather than carrying its wording forward as universal current guidance.

NMDC’s AGM notice says dividends left unpaid or unclaimed for seven years are transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF). It says claimants whose dividends or shares have moved to IEPF may apply through Form IEPF-5 and send the required signed physical documents to the company. Check the current IEPF form instructions and your account status, or contact NMDC or its registrar and transfer agent for assistance.
