Compare similar items in the same market and check their prices and stock on the same date. Company sales channels and store counts describe how the brands sell products, not whether a specific item is cheaper or in stock near you.
What counts as a fair comparison?
Start with a specific category and use. This article focuses on athletic footwear, a product category identified in Nike’s fiscal 2026 filing and part of adidas’s broad sportswear and retail business. Everyday shoes should be compared with everyday shoes; shoes for a particular sport should be matched by intended use rather than brand name alone.

For each pair, note the model, market, currency and date checked. Compare current prices, relevant features, sizes available, shipping costs and return terms. Discounts can change the result, so record whether the price is regular or promotional. Without matched products and purchase terms, a lower sticker price alone may not mean better value.
Does either brand have better availability?
Availability is specific to a style, size, seller and location. Both companies use direct and wholesale distribution, so a product might be available from a brand’s own store or through a retailer. Their company reports do not show live inventory for a particular shoe or local shop.
#1 Best Overall
- Versatile running shoes with Cloudfoam cushioning technology for consistent comfort.
- Laces
- Textile and synthetic upper
- Textile sockliner
adidas reported that wholesale accounted for 60% of net sales and direct-to-consumer for 40% in 2025. It also reported 2,022 own stores, including 886 concept stores and 1,136 factory outlets. These calendar-year company figures describe sales channels and the store network, not local stock.
Nike’s fiscal 2026 results reported $27.5 billion in wholesale revenue and $17.7 billion in NIKE Direct revenue. These are company-wide revenue figures, not counts of stores, products or available sizes. Nike’s fiscal-year figures and adidas’s calendar-year figures cover different reporting periods, so they do not provide a like-for-like channel ranking.

To check practical availability, search the same model and size through each brand’s own store and the same local retailers on the same date. Distinguish a retailer listing from confirmed stock at a nearby location.
Do sales trends reveal which brand is better value?
No. adidas reported 2025 currency-neutral wholesale revenue growth of 12% and own-retail revenue growth of 13%. Those company-reported growth rates describe business performance; they do not establish lower consumer prices or better availability compared with Nike.
Rank #3
- Men's lightweight running-inspired sneakers for everyday wear
- MESH UPPER: Mesh upper for breathability and light weight
- TEXTILE LINING: Textile lining provides a soft, comfortable feel
- CUSHIONED MIDSOLE: Cloudfoam midsole for step-in comfort and superior cushioning
- RUBBER OUTSOLE: The rubber outsole provides outstanding grip and a sleek, low-profile look
Likewise, store counts, channel mix and revenue cannot substitute for current, matched product prices and inventory. The available company-level figures do not prove that either brand offers better value overall.

How to decide for your purchase
- Choose the use and category. Compare products intended for the same activity or everyday purpose.
- Pick comparable models. Assess the features and fit relevant to that use, and check the same size where possible.
- Check prices on the same date. Use the same market and currency, and account for discounts, shipping and return terms.
- Check stock in the same places. Compare brand-direct listings and the same retailers, recording whether the item can actually be bought in your size or collected locally.
- Choose based on the full purchase. A model that meets your needs and is available at an acceptable total cost is the better value for you, regardless of which brand makes it.
