Verizon began rolling out a second December 2025 update for Pixel phones on December 17, 2025. For the Pixel 10 family, build BP4A.251205.006.E1 was intended to address unusually fast battery drain, intermittent touch failures and inaccessible offline content after certain Android 16 upgrades.
This was a targeted follow-up to the main December 2 Pixel release—not the same update and not a permanent Verizon exclusive. Other carriers and regions later received the build. As of August 18, 2026, Verizon lists newer Pixel 10 software, so install the newest update offered for your phone rather than trying to remain on this historical build.
What the December 17 update changed
The three Pixel 10-related fixes came from Verizon’s carrier changelog, reported by Droid Life. They describe software symptoms the update was designed to address, not a guarantee that every battery, display or performance complaint will disappear.
- Faster-than-normal battery depletion: The update addressed a known software-related drain issue. Battery life can still be affected by app activity, poor reception, high brightness, background syncing, location, hotspot use or battery health.
- Intermittent touch failures on Pixel 10: Some taps or swipes could fail to register. This does not, by itself, establish permanent touchscreen hardware damage.
- Inaccessible locally cached content: Downloaded media, offline maps and similar local app data could become unavailable after a direct upgrade from Android 14 or earlier to Android 16. The fix is conditional; it does not cover every missing file or cloud-data problem.
User reports about touch becoming unresponsive after waking the phone, or about display glitches and freezing, are anecdotal and are not additional items in the formal three-fix list. See the Google Pixel Community discussion for those reports.

How this update fits the December 2025 timeline
| Date | Release | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| December 2, 2025 | Main December Pixel update | Google’s regular Android 16-era release with broader changes and security fixes; details were announced in the Google Pixel Community post. |
| December 17, 2025 | Follow-up carrier rollout | Verizon began distributing build BP4A.251205.006.E1, focused on the three operational bugs above. |
| Later rollout | Broader availability | Reports indicated that the build reached other carriers and countries, so it should be described as Verizon-led or first spotted on Verizon, not Verizon-only. |
The separate December 2025 Pixel security bulletin remains the source for vulnerability details. The three carrier changelog items do not represent all security content from that month.
Which Pixel phones were included?
The reported rollout covered a wider range than the Pixel 10 line:

Eligibility does not mean every model experienced every bug. In particular, the touch failure was identified specifically for Pixel 10 devices, while the cached-content issue depended on the phone’s previous Android version and upgrade path.
How to check and install the update
- Open Settings.
- Tap System, then Software updates.
- Choose System update or Check for update. Labels can vary by Android version; search Settings for “software update” if needed.
- Check the offered build. The historical December follow-up was
BP4A.251205.006.E1. - Download and install over reliable Wi-Fi or a strong Verizon connection, with the battery sufficiently charged. Verizon’s update guidance is available at its device-update support page.
- Let the phone restart and finish optimizing without interrupting it. Installation can take longer than a normal reboot.
Verify the full software build under the phone’s system information. The Android version or Google Play system-update date alone does not confirm this particular firmware.

Why the update may not appear
- Carrier rollouts are staged and can vary by model, region and network configuration.
- An unlocked Pixel may receive different timing or a different regional build from a Verizon-sold model.
- Your phone may already have newer software, so the December build is no longer offered.
- The device may be checking for a Google Play system update instead of a complete Android system update.
Compare your installed build with the model-specific history on Verizon’s Pixel 10 update page and its central software-updates index. A missing December notification is not proof that the phone is unsupported.

Battery drain
Use the phone normally for at least one full day after installation. Immediately after an update, app updates, file indexing and background optimization can temporarily increase consumption. If drain remains abnormal, open Settings > Battery > Battery usage and look for an app using an unusual share of power.

Touch response
Test the keyboard, scrolling, edge gestures and lock-screen controls. Lock and wake the phone several times to check whether taps and swipes register consistently. A persistent black screen, display noise or a boot loop is not established by this changelog and may require separate support.
Offline content
Disconnect from Wi-Fi and cellular data, then test downloaded movies, music or offline maps. If content remains unavailable, update the affected app and re-download its offline data. This symptom is relevant mainly to devices upgraded directly from Android 14 or earlier to Android 16.

If problems continue after installation
- Restart the phone once the update has completed.
- Allow several hours for indexing and optimization to settle.
- Install pending updates in Google Play.
- Repeat the battery, touch and offline-content tests described above.
- Contact Google or Verizon support if touch input still fails, the phone repeatedly freezes, or display artifacts appear.
Do not jump straight to a factory reset. It erases local files, apps and account data. Verizon also warns that a reset can require the previously associated Google account or other Android device-protection credentials; review its factory-reset warning and back up important data first.
Current status in 2026
Verizon’s Pixel 10 history shows a July 7, 2026 update with build CP2A.260705.006, alongside a June 2026 security patch. The December 17, 2025 build is therefore historical. If your phone offers a newer approved release, install that release instead of seeking out BP4A.251205.006.E1.
The Bottom Line
The December 17, 2025 Verizon-led update was a meaningful targeted repair for affected Pixel owners, especially Pixel 10 users with battery drain, intermittent touch input or a specific Android 14-or-earlier-to-Android 16 offline-content problem. It was not a universal cure for every Pixel complaint, and newer Verizon software now supersedes it.
