Netflix’s current mobile-casting list includes Chromecast (3rd generation or older) without a physical remote. Open Netflix, sign in if prompted, choose a profile, tap Cast, select the Chromecast, and start a title. Newer remote-equipped streaming devices may require you to open Netflix on the device and use its remote instead.
What you need before casting
- A Chromecast that Netflix lists for mobile casting: 3rd generation or older, without a physical remote.
- A phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast.
- A Netflix Standard or Premium plan; Netflix says casting or mirroring is available on those plans. Plan names and availability can vary by country, so check your account’s plan settings if casting is unavailable.
- The Netflix app. Netflix’s troubleshooting guidance specifies Android 9 or later, or iOS/iPadOS 16 or later, for casting.
Netflix’s instructions and compatibility details can change; the linked Help Center pages were accessed October 7, 2026.

How to cast Netflix from a phone or tablet
- Power on and set up the Chromecast, then connect it and your phone or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Netflix app on your Android device or iPhone/iPad. Sign in if prompted.
- Select the Netflix profile you want to use.
- Tap the Cast icon in the upper-right corner and select the compatible Chromecast.
- Choose a show or movie and start playback. Use the phone or tablet to pause, seek, and adjust audio or subtitles.
Signing in uses your existing Netflix account; the Chromecast does not create an account or membership. Netflix says a membership plan sets the number of simultaneous screens, not how many devices can be added to an account. Netflix: Getting started with Netflix.

Which Chromecast and other devices work with mobile casting?
Netflix does not say that every Chromecast supports receiving a cast from the mobile app. Its listed Chromecast option is 3rd generation or older without a physical remote. The current list also includes Google Nest Hub Smart Displays and select cast-enabled Vizio and Compal TVs. See Netflix’s mobile casting instructions and supported-device troubleshooting for the current list.

- Chromecast is easy to install and compatible with almost any TV that has an HDMI port; to get started, just plug it into your TV’s HDMI port, connect to Wi-Fi, and start streaming
A remote-equipped streamer that is absent from that list may still run Netflix directly. For example, Netflix’s separate Google TV Streamer instructions explain how to open its Netflix app and sign in; that page does not expand the general mobile-casting list. Choose the right way to watch
| Option | How it works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Older Chromecast with mobile casting | Select the Chromecast in Netflix’s phone or tablet app. | It is 3rd generation or older and has no physical remote; both devices share Wi-Fi; your plan supports casting. |
| Netflix app on a TV or streamer | Open Netflix on the device and navigate with its remote. | The Netflix app is available for that model and region, and you can sign in. |
| Wired phone-to-TV connection | Connect the phone to the display using a compatible video cable or adapter. | Confirm the phone supports video output, the display has a suitable input, and the cable or adapter works with both. Netflix notes that not every device or adapter is supported. |
Netflix says AirPlay is not supported, and some screen-mirroring methods or apps may not work. A wired connection is not guaranteed either; check device and adapter compatibility. Netflix’s casting and mirroring guidance.

Fix “No devices found” or a missing Cast icon
Confirm the receiver is eligible
Check the model against Netflix’s cast-compatible list. If it is not listed, use the device’s remote to open its Netflix app, if available, rather than expecting mobile casting to work.

Allow local network access on iPhone or iPad
Open Settings → Netflix → Local Network and enable access. Without this permission, Netflix may not find devices on the local network.
Update apps and restart devices
Netflix recommends updating Google Home and, on Android, Google Play Services. If those checks do not resolve the issue, fully power off and restart the phone or tablet and the cast-compatible device. See Netflix’s cast-device troubleshooting.

When mobile casting is unavailable
Use the Netflix app on a supported TV or streaming device and control it with its remote. If that is not an option, a compatible phone-to-TV video cable or adapter may work, depending on the phone’s video output and the display’s inputs. Netflix does not support AirPlay as a workaround.
