There is no universal foam-blaster ammunition. Compatibility depends on the ammo family and, sometimes, the exact blaster model. Hasbro explicitly limits Nerf Ultra blasters to Ultra darts and says Rival Accu-Rounds work across Nerf Rival blasters. For other families and brands, check the manufacturer’s instructions rather than relying on a dart’s appearance or whether it seems to fit.
Why Nerf ammunition is not universally interchangeable
“Nerf dart” can refer to several distinct ammunition families. N1 and Elite are dart families; Ultra is another dart family. Rival and Hyper use round ammunition, while Gelfire uses water-hydrated rounds. Similar-looking or similarly sized ammunition is not proof that it is approved for a particular blaster.

How to check whether a refill works in your blaster
- Identify the exact blaster. Find its full product name or product number, then locate the manufacturer’s product page or instruction manual.
- Find the named ammo family. Look for wording such as Ultra dart, Rival round, or N1 dart in the product information or instructions.
- Match the refill to that guidance. Use the stated ammo family and any model-specific direction. Do not infer compatibility from color, length, shape, or apparent fit.
- Follow the safety instructions. Do not aim at eyes or faces, and do not modify the blaster or ammunition. Use eyewear where the product instructions recommend it.
What the cited product specifications do—and do not—show
Hasbro lists an advertised range of “up to 120 feet (36 meters)” for the Ultra One, a 25-dart drum for that model, an 8-dart internal clip for the Ultra Three, and a velocity of 90 feet per second for the Rival Fate XXII-100. These are manufacturer specifications for the named products, not independent comparative tests or evidence that their ammunition works across families. Can Nerf darts work in other brands’ blasters?
The available sources do not establish which Nerf darts work in specific blasters from other manufacturers, or which third-party darts meet a particular blaster’s requirements. Treat cross-brand compatibility as unconfirmed unless the blaster maker’s instructions explicitly identify the ammo as suitable. Physical fit alone does not establish safe or reliable operation.
