Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou may not need an iPad: the right cheaper tablet depends on the apps you use, the kind of work you do and whether you want Google Play or Amazon’s more limited app store. Prime Big Deal Days 2026 ran October 6–7, so those event discounts have ended; no current Amazon sale price for these models is confirmed here. Check the exact configuration and live listing before buying.
Choose the platform and task before comparing prices
An iPad runs iPadOS and uses Apple’s App Store. Standard Android tablets use Google Play, while Amazon Fire tablets run Fire OS and rely on Amazon’s Appstore. Those are meaningful differences: check that the apps you need are available on the tablet you are considering before treating two devices as interchangeable. TechRadar’s cheap-tablet guide and Digital Camera World’s iPad alternatives guide discuss these platform trade-offs.

- Streaming, reading and basic tasks: a large screen and access to your streaming or reading apps may matter more than productivity extras.
- Work or study: check multitasking support and the cost and compatibility of any keyboard or pen you need. A big display alone does not make a tablet equivalent to an iPad or laptop.
- Creative work or demanding games: confirm that the apps and performance meet your needs; the sources here do not establish that these alternatives match an iPad for demanding tasks.
Five alternatives to consider
These are candidates for different needs, not a head-to-head tested ranking. Prices below are historical source-time figures where given—not current Amazon offers.
1. OnePlus Pad Go 2: a large-screen Android candidate
TechRadar recommends the OnePlus Pad Go 2 among inexpensive Android tablets, highlighting entertainment, productivity, battery life and multitasking software. Its published page conflicts with itself on basic specifications: the table and surrounding prose give different screen sizes, chipsets and battery capacities. Do not rely on those exact figures without checking an official listing for the precise model. TechRadar also reported that it was sold directly by OnePlus at the time of its update, so verify whether the model is currently available on Amazon in your region. 2. Lenovo Idea Tab Pro: consider it for productivity
TechRadar identifies the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro as a budget option for professionals. Before comparing its value, check the regional configuration, included accessories and current price: the source does not establish those details for the configuration you might find on sale. If you need a keyboard or pen, confirm that it fits the exact model and include its cost in your comparison. Source: TechRadar’s cheap-tablet guide.
3. Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2: a value-focused Android option
Digital Camera World lists an 11-inch, 2560 × 1600 display, Android 15, a MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra processor and a 9,000mAh battery. It identifies 4GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations. At the time of that publication, it reported prices of $179 for 4GB/128GB and $215 for 8GB/256GB; neither figure is a verified current sale price. The review describes performance as suitable for everyday use and light image editing, but not serious photography, and notes a headphone jack. Its 16:10 screen shape differs from the iPad’s 4:3 aspect ratio, which can affect how reading and other content fit on screen. Source: Digital Camera World’s iPad alternatives guide.

4. OnePlus Pad Go: Google Play at a lower price point
Digital Camera World describes the OnePlus Pad Go as an 11-inch Android tablet with 8GB of RAM, a 2.4K-class 2408 × 1720 display and Google Play access. Its published price context was around $200–250, not a live offer. The review says the display is not OLED and cautions against using it for color-critical image editing. Check current regional availability and the exact listing before comparing it with a sale-priced iPad. Source: Digital Camera World’s iPad alternatives guide.
5. Amazon Fire Max 11: best suited to Amazon-centric basics
Digital Camera World lists an 11-inch, 2000 × 1200 display, Fire OS 8, 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. It says the tablet does not have Google Play and that Amazon’s Appstore has a more limited selection. The review considers it suitable for streaming, email and casual gaming, but a poor fit for app-heavy use. Its stated $229.99 price is from the source’s publication period, not a confirmed current Amazon sale price. Source: Digital Camera World’s iPad alternatives guide.

How to compare the real cost of a sale listing
A lower headline price may not mean a better fit once you select the right storage configuration or add accessories. Compare the exact tablet listing with the iPad configuration you would otherwise buy, and check:
- Apps: confirm that essential study, work, streaming and creative apps are available in the tablet’s store.
- Configuration: match storage and other listed specifications rather than comparing different versions of a model.
- Accessories: add any required keyboard, pen, case or screen protector. Do not assume one is included in the box.
- Availability: check that the exact model and configuration are sold in your country. This matters especially for the OnePlus Pad Go 2, whose cited guide reported direct-from-OnePlus availability at its update time.
- Screen shape and size: consider how the display works for reading, portrait use, video and split-screen tasks, not just its diagonal measurement or resolution.
For Samsung alternatives, the Samsung US Galaxy Tab comparison lets you compare listed models by display, connectivity, operating system and expandable storage. Samsung also lists keyboard covers, protective covers and screen protectors; verify that any accessory fits the exact tablet model.
