NCERT’s 2026–27 online Diploma Course in Teaching of Science at Middle Stage is open for enrollment through 12 November 2026. The 40-week course is planned to begin on 16 November 2026 and is intended for science teachers and others involved in science education. Enrollment costs ₹2,000, but the course is academic: NCERT says its certificate is not equivalent to a qualification required for teacher appointment.
Course schedule and workload
NCERT describes the course as a MOOC for science teachers for Grades 6–8. Its batch-specific 2026–27 FAQ lists 40 weeks and 40 modules. A new module opens each week, and each takes an average of six to eight hours.

The end date is tentative. NCERT’s separate course overview currently shows a 16 November 2025 start alongside the 12 November 2026 enrollment deadline. That start year conflicts with the 2026–27 FAQ and should not be treated as the start date for this batch; the FAQ gives 16 November 2026.

Successful learners receive an NCERT e-certificate titled “Teaching of Science at Middle Stage.” NCERT states that the course is academic and that it is not equivalent to another course required as a qualification for teacher appointment; it also cannot be claimed for an exemption. Anyone seeking a credential for appointment or qualification purposes should not assume this certificate satisfies that requirement.

What you need to access the course
The FAQ says participants access the online course with an internet-connected laptop or desktop computer. It does not name a required computer model. If you do not already have access to a suitable device, a basic laptop or desktop that can connect to the internet is sufficient based on the stated access requirement; NCERT does not identify any course-specific accessories or equipment.

Before enrolling, consider whether you can set aside roughly six to eight hours per module as each weekly module opens, have reliable access to an internet-connected computer, and want an academic course rather than a teacher-appointment qualification. NCERT’s course materials do not publish enrollment totals, pass rates, learner outcomes or an evaluation study, so they do not establish measured effectiveness.
