To change a player-made Crew’s name in NBA 2K27, go to The City → Main Menu → Crews → Crew Management and check the available controls as the Crew President. A custom name unlocks at Crew level 5, but the current guide does not confirm that a rename control will appear for every Crew or that level 5 is required for every later edit.
Change a player-made Crew name
- Go to The City and open the Main Menu.
- Select Crews.
- Choose Crew Management.
- If you are the Crew President, inspect the available settings for a name control and follow the in-game prompts if one is shown.
The official NBA 2K27 Crews guide says the President can update the Crew’s name, but its Crew Management instructions specifically mention updating vibe and focus rather than naming. So the menu is the place to check, not a guaranteed rename option.

Check your role and Crew level
Only the Crew President manages a player-made Crew’s settings. If you are a member, ask the President to make the change. NBA 2K Support says a Crew’s initial name is randomly generated and that a custom name becomes available once the Crew reaches level 5. The guide does not clarify whether that level threshold also applies to later renames.

If no name control appears, confirm you are the President and check the Crew’s level. If both are in order, consult current NBA 2K27 Crews support guidance; the published instructions do not establish another rename route.

Can you rename a public 2K Crew?
No. A public 2K Crew has no President, and NBA 2K Support says its name and logo cannot be changed. This restriction is different from a player-made Crew, which is managed by its owner.
Does the NBA 2K HQ app change Crew names?
The NBA 2K HQ app announcement describes Crew-management features such as invites, roster controls and real-time messaging, but it does not say that name editing is supported there. For renaming, use the in-game Crew Management menu and check its current controls.

Crews are part of Crew HQ in The City in NBA 2K27, according to the official game mode breakdown. The title launched worldwide on September 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch 2, according to 2K’s release announcement.
