NBA 2K25 is scheduled to stop being sold on October 30, 2026, and its online services are scheduled to end after December 31, 2026. If you already own it, 2K says you can still redownload the game and play supported offline modes—but MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available from January 1, 2027.
When is NBA 2K25 being delisted and when do its servers shut down?
2K’s NBA 2K25 server-sunset notice, updated October 2, 2026, gives three dates:

- October 30, 2026: NBA 2K25 will no longer be available for purchase.
- December 31, 2026: 2K lists this as the game’s discontinuation date and the last day of online-service availability.
- January 1, 2027: multiplayer and online modes become inaccessible, MyCAREER and MyTEAM are no longer available, and players can no longer earn Virtual Currency (VC).
The notice’s “discontinued as of December 31” wording and its January 1 service cutoff describe the same transition: online features are scheduled to end at the turn of the year. 2K’s online-services status page also lists NBA 2K25 as available online through December 31, 2026.
Can you play NBA 2K25 MyCAREER after the shutdown?
No. 2K explicitly says MyCAREER will no longer be available from January 1, 2027. That applies even though the mode has a story-focused, solo-play presentation; the publisher does not say that its story portion will remain accessible offline.

2K’s notice does not explain whether MyCAREER saves or player builds can be preserved, nor does it describe an offline workaround. Do not assume that an existing save, a previously created player, or ownership of the game will keep MyCAREER playable after the cutoff.
Which NBA 2K25 modes will still work offline?
For existing owners, 2K says: “If you already own the game, you will still be able to redownload and play offline modes.” The notice names Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA as offline modes. Its service-status listing also identifies 2KU/Learn 2K as offline.

That means the shutdown does not remove every way to play NBA 2K25. These named offline modes are distinct from MyCAREER and MyTEAM, which 2K says will no longer be available.

From January 1, 2027, 2K says players will lose multiplayer games and access to online game modes. Its notice also identifies Online Leagues and community sharing as unavailable, and says VC can no longer be earned. Other features that require 2K’s servers should not be expected to work once those services end.

Should you buy NBA 2K25 before it is delisted?
Only if the modes you want match what will remain available. The purchase cutoff is October 30, 2026, but buying the game before then does not preserve MyCAREER, MyTEAM, multiplayer, or other server-dependent features beyond the shutdown. If your main reason to buy is MyCAREER, the announced end date makes this a short-term purchase rather than a way to keep playing that mode indefinitely.
If you already own the game, delisting by itself does not revoke your copy: 2K says you can continue to redownload it and play supported offline modes. NBA 2K25 launched worldwide on September 6, 2024, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, according to Take-Two’s launch announcement. Availability and purchase options may vary by platform and store.
