The News-Press / Naples Daily News identified one of them as 23-year-old Isael Trejo, who it reported was hospitalized for nearly a week. The report does not include responses from ICE or the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, or independently corroborate the incident details.
What happened at the Naples Manor protest
According to Tomas Rodriguez’s Oct. 3, 2026, report for The News-Press / Naples Daily News, protesters assembled at 11145 Tamiami Trail East and marched about 400 feet to an Exxon station where the reported assault occurred. Drivers honked as marchers chanted “Immigrants in, ICE out.” Participants placed candles at the site and held a moment of silence.
The report dates the incident to Wednesday, Sept. 23, and says two U.S. citizens were injured by federal agents. It identifies Trejo as one of the injured people and says he spent nearly a week in hospital. Those details are attributed to the report; the article does not establish the exact sequence of events or responsibility independently.
What protesters called for
Protesters called for accountability and an end to violence. Roland Heinrich, a naturalized citizen born in Germany, held a sign asking Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk to end the county’s 287(g) agreement with ICE. The report describes the agreement as allowing local law enforcement agencies to partner with ICE and giving officers authority to prepare affidavits on ICE’s behalf.

What participants said about immigration enforcement
Arianne Betancourt, an immigrant-rights advocate, said she began advocating after her father was detained at Alligator Alcatraz. David Silverberg, described in the report as a former Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police board member, said he hoped ICE and its supporters would understand that people were watching and opposed their actions. What the report does—and does not—establish
The report documents the protest and the views expressed by its participants. It does not include a response from ICE or the sheriff’s office, nor does it provide independent corroboration of the reported assault, the identities and citizenship of those injured, or the agents’ actions. Its account therefore supports describing what protesters said and what the local report reported, not treating disputed incident details as official findings.
