Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a budget-first buyer with one site, Namecheap’s published renewal prices are the easier figures to check and compare. SiteGround makes its case through bundled features, including SSL, a CDN, daily backups, and on-demand backups on higher tiers, but the price figures available to us are region-specific and time-qualified, so you need to confirm the renewal total at checkout before deciding on cost.
This comparison is based on each vendor’s published documentation as of October 2026. It is not a hands-on test of speed, uptime, or support, and neither vendor’s marketing claims about performance are treated here as independently verified.

How the renewal prices compare
Renewal cost is where most shared-hosting budgets go wrong, because introductory rates are designed to look low at signup. Use the recurring price, not the first-invoice headline, as your baseline.

Namecheap’s May 2026 renewal notice lists the recurring prices that apply to invoices issued on or after May 19, 2026. These are the figures to compare:
#1 Best Overall
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Two years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stellar | $5.88 | $55.88 | $102.88 |
| Stellar Plus | $7.88 | $85.44 | $146.44 |
| Stellar Business | $11.88 | $128.88 | $251.88 |
Source: Namecheap Support, Shared Hosting pricing changes – May 2026. Namecheap’s current shared-hosting page also promotes introductory trial pricing. Those offers are separate from the renewal schedule and can change, so treat them as a temporary entry point rather than the long-term cost.
SiteGround: price table with a date conflict
SiteGround’s shared-hosting prices are published on its Spanish-language knowledge base at es.siteground.com, listed by billing term and geography. That page carries an October 2, 2026 update date, but the price table itself states that the listed prices took effect September 7, 2023. For that reason, read the table as a regional reference for billing terms, not as a confirmed 2026 renewal quote for your account.
Because of that gap, a fair Namecheap-versus-SiteGround renewal comparison has to be made at checkout, for the same billing term and region, rather than from published tables alone.
Plan limits: sites, storage, and tiers
Plan names do not tell you how much a site can hold. Check the limits on each provider’s plan table before choosing a tier.
Rank #3
Namecheap Stellar tiers
Namecheap’s plan comparison separates website counts, storage, mailbox, and database limits by tier. As that page presents them:
- Stellar carries a stated website and storage limit, which is the entry-level constraint. Confirm the exact figure on the comparison page before buying if you plan to run more than one site.
- Stellar Plus is presented with unlimited websites and unmetered SSD storage.
- Stellar Business is described with 50 GB of cloud storage.
SiteGround tiers
SiteGround separates StartUp from its higher tiers, and the feature materials we reviewed do not state a per-plan website cap in the same format as Namecheap’s comparison. Check the plan table at checkout for the site count and storage that apply to the tier you select.
Rank #4
Backups: what is included and where
Backups are the feature most likely to be tier-dependent, so confirm which plan you are buying before assuming coverage.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →| Backup feature | Namecheap | SiteGround |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic backups | AutoBackup is included on Stellar Plus and Business, per Namecheap’s shared-hosting page | Daily backups are advertised on SiteGround’s hosting feature page; the page does not map them to each tier |
| On-demand backups | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Available on GrowBig and higher for sites using third-party applications or custom code |
| Entry tier backups | Stellar: AutoBackup not listed as included | Not stated by tier; confirm at checkout |
In practice, a Namecheap buyer who wants automatic backups should look at Stellar Plus or Business, while a SiteGround buyer with a custom-coded or plugin-heavy site should look at GrowBig or higher for on-demand backups. Restore procedures and retention periods are not described in enough detail in the sources to compare, so ask each provider before relying on either.
Best Value
Security, SSL, and bundled tools
Both vendors bundle several features that would otherwise cost extra, but the bundles differ.
- Namecheap advertises automatic SSL installation, free migration, Imunify360 security, cPanel, and AutoBackup on Plus and Business.
- SiteGround advertises free SSL, a CDN, daily backups, and enhanced security on its feature page.
Both lists describe vendor features, not independent test results. A CDN and Imunify360 solve different problems, so compare them by what your site needs rather than by how many items each provider lists.
What “unlimited” does and does not mean
“Unlimited” and “unmetered” are marketing labels for account-level allowances, not guarantees of unlimited computing power. Namecheap’s Stellar Plus is described as offering unlimited websites and unmetered SSD storage; that does not define the CPU, memory, or I/O available to any one busy site. SiteGround’s advertised bundle has the same limitation. Read each provider’s acceptable-use and resource policies before launching a site that expects steady traffic, and plan to move to a higher tier or a different hosting type if your site outgrows shared resources.

Which host fits which buyer
- Choose Namecheap Stellar if you run one small site, recurring cost is the main constraint, and you do not need automatic backups included in the plan.
- Choose Namecheap Stellar Plus if you want several websites on one account and AutoBackup included. Its published recurring price is $7.88 a month, or $85.44 a year.
- Choose Namecheap Stellar Business if storage is the constraint and you want AutoBackup. Its recurring price is $11.88 a month, or $128.88 a year.
- Choose SiteGround if the bundle of SSL, CDN, and daily backups matters to you, your site uses third-party applications or custom code and needs on-demand backups on GrowBig or higher, and the renewal total on your checkout is acceptable.
Our verdict: Namecheap is the stronger choice when the recurring figure is the deciding factor and the published Stellar limits fit your site. SiteGround is the stronger choice when the included backup and CDN features are worth paying for and you have confirmed its current renewal total.
Quick Recap
Before you buy
- Choose the billing term and region at checkout, and confirm the renewal line item rather than the promotional amount.
- Check the site count and storage on the plan table for the exact tier you are buying.
- Confirm which tier includes backups, and ask how restores are performed and how far back they go.
- Confirm the data-center region, since it affects where your visitors’ requests are served from.
- Read the acceptable-use and resource policy for the plan.
