Namecheap’s shared-hosting lineup publishes annual renewal totals for Stellar plans; Bluehost lists a lower monthly renewal figure for Starter when renewed on a 36-month term. Those prices do not represent the same billing commitment.

Which host costs less after renewal?
It depends on the tier and billing period. Namecheap’s May 8, 2026 renewal notice says the listed rates apply to invoices issued on or after May 19, 2026. It gives the following prices for shared hosting:
| Namecheap plan | Monthly renewal | Annual renewal | Two-year renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stellar | $5.88 | $55.88 | $102.88 |
| Stellar Plus | $7.88 | $85.44 | $146.44 |
| Stellar Business | $11.88 | $128.88 | $251.88 |
Namecheap’s renewal notice and shared-hosting plan information describe these provider-published renewal amounts. The Namecheap page lists prices by monthly, yearly, and two-year billing periods; check the checkout page for the current amount and applicable terms.
#1 Best Overall
Bluehost’s pricing page lists Starter at $3.99 per month for a 36-month term, renewing at $9.99 per month, and Business at $6.99 per month, renewing at $13.99 per month. The page notes that taxes are excluded. Bluehost web-hosting pricing
Those Bluehost monthly renewal figures are tied to the stated pricing-page terms and should not be compared with a Namecheap annual or two-year total as if the commitments were identical. Bluehost says its first-term offers are temporary: “Bluehost frequently provides consumers with discounts and exclusive deals throughout their first term.” The provider’s renewal article, dated February 11, 2026, says the account Renewal Center has the most up-to-date customer renewal rate. How to compare the real cost
- Choose how many websites you need and identify the minimum storage, email, and database allowances that work for them.
- Compare plans with the same billing period where possible. If one provider’s available price is for a longer prepaid term, account for that commitment rather than multiplying a monthly figure and assuming it is equivalent.
- Record the introductory total, renewal rate, and renewal billing period separately. Check taxes and the final checkout screen.
- If you already have an account, confirm its actual renewal figure in the provider’s account area before making a decision.
How do the plan limits and features differ?
Namecheap Stellar tiers
Namecheap’s shared-hosting comparison lists Stellar with 20 GB SSD and three hosted domain names, Stellar Plus with unmetered SSD and unlimited hosted domains, and Stellar Business with 50 GB SSD and unlimited hosted domains. The comparison also publishes tier-specific email, database, subdomain, and FTP limits, so check those figures if your site depends on multiple mailboxes or databases. Namecheap shared-hosting plans

Bluehost shared tiers
Bluehost’s comparison lists website counts, NVMe storage, and estimated monthly visit targets by plan. The same comparison lists a free domain for the first year, a migration tool, CDN, Let’s Encrypt SSL, malware scanning, and managed WordPress updates across the displayed shared plans. It lists malware detection and removal and phone support for selected higher tiers. Treat visit targets as provider-published estimates, not an independent performance guarantee. For either provider, a feature label by itself may not tell you enough. Check the plan’s precise allowance, whether a feature is included or limited to certain tiers, and any conditions on backups, SSL, or migration before buying.

Which is better for WordPress?
Both providers publish shared-hosting features relevant to WordPress sites, but the available plan pages do not establish that one delivers better WordPress performance. Bluehost lists managed WordPress updates across its displayed shared plans, while Namecheap’s cited shared-hosting comparison describes its hosting limits and included features. Choose based on the number of sites, storage, support channel, renewal terms, and the specific WordPress management features you want.
Neither provider’s own plan descriptions constitute a controlled comparison of loading speed, uptime, or support quality. No performance winner can be concluded from these published features alone.
Quick Recap
Best Value
How to choose between them
Namecheap may fit better if…
- You want to compare its annual or two-year shared-hosting renewal totals against your budget.
- Stellar’s published three-domain limit or a higher tier’s unlimited hosted-domain allowance matches your site needs.
- You value the advertised AutoBackup schedules on eligible higher tiers and have confirmed the plan includes them.
Bluehost may fit better if…
- You prefer a plan comparison that lists NVMe storage, website counts, and estimated monthly visit targets.
- The 24/7 chat support on Starter, or the listed chat and phone channels on higher tiers, suit your support preferences.
- You want the listed managed WordPress updates or other features, and have checked the selected tier’s exact limits and renewal terms.
Before you pay
- Confirm the plan name and billing term shown at checkout.
- Compare the number of sites, domain allowances, storage, email, databases, and traffic/resource terms you actually need.
- Check backup frequency and retention, migration terms, SSL coverage, and support channels for that specific tier.
- Review the renewal price and taxes; if you are an existing customer, use the account renewal information rather than assuming a public price applies to your account.
