The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro is the better fit if you want an asymmetric stick layout, Hall effect sticks and triggers, extra rear shortcuts, or one controller for PS5, PS4 and compatible PC games. Choose Sony’s DualSense Edge if you want haptics and adaptive triggers in supported PS5 games, plus a closer match to the standard PlayStation controller experience. The biggest trade-off is easy to miss: despite its PS5 compatibility, the Nacon has no vibration or haptic feedback in PS5 games and cannot wake the console.
At a glance: the main differences
| Decision | Nacon Revolution 5 Pro | Sony DualSense Edge |
|---|---|---|
| Stick layout | Asymmetric | DualSense-style layout |
| Stick and trigger technology | Nacon specifies magnetic Hall effect sticks and triggers, plus adjustable trigger travel | Sony highlights customizable controls and swappable stick modules |
| PS5 game effects | No haptic feedback or vibration in PS5 games; no adaptive triggers | Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported titles |
| Extra controls and configuration | Four rear shortcut buttons; Nacon says its app offers over 60 setting variations in Advanced mode | Customizable controls and swappable profiles |
| Platform support | PS5, PS4 and PC games that support XInput; Mac is unsupported | PS5 and PC over USB or Bluetooth, with some PC feature limitations |
| Battery claim | Nacon estimates 10 hours or more, depending on settings; this is a manufacturer estimate | A comparable battery estimate is not stated on Sony’s reviewed product page |
| Repair path | Nacon says spare parts will be available through its portal; check current availability | Sony identifies a replaceable stick module |
These are different priorities, not a universal winner. The layout that feels natural is personal, and the published battery claims do not establish which controller lasts longer in a like-for-like test.

How important are DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers to you?
This is the clearest deciding factor for PS5 play. Sony says the DualSense Edge retains haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported games. Those effects depend on the game supporting them; they are not a promise that every title uses every feature.
Nacon states that the Revolution 5 Pro has neither haptic feedback nor vibration in PS5 games. It also lacks adaptive triggers. Nacon says vibration is available when the controller is used with PC and PS4 games, but that does not restore DualSense effects on PS5. If game feedback is part of why you want a premium PS5 controller, the Edge is the more direct choice. Sony’s DualSense Edge feature details and Nacon’s support FAQ describe these differences.
#1 Best Overall
Do you prefer asymmetric sticks or Hall effect controls?
Layout is a matter of hand preference
The Revolution 5 Pro places its sticks asymmetrically, while the Edge follows the familiar DualSense-style layout. Neither arrangement is inherently better for every player. If you already know that one layout suits your grip, that preference may matter more than a feature checklist; if you do not, try to handle the controller before buying when possible.
Hall effect is a design feature, not a guarantee
Nacon specifies magnetic Hall effect technology for the Revolution 5 Pro’s sticks and triggers. That is a meaningful distinction if you are seeking those sensors, but it is not a guarantee against every control problem or a published durability result. Nacon’s support page notes that a firmware update resolved a Y-axis inversion issue that caused joystick drift, and warns that FPS Pro mode can produce slight drift if a stick does not return exactly to center. Sony, by contrast, identifies swappable stick modules for the Edge. Neither manufacturer’s cited material establishes comparative stick lifespan or drift rates.

The Nacon’s trigger travel can be adjusted, including through trigger blockers. That can suit players who want a shorter trigger pull, but it is separate from the Edge’s adaptive-trigger effects in supported PS5 games.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow much customization and how many extra controls do you need?
Nacon provides four rear shortcut buttons. Its support documentation describes remapping those shortcuts and adjusting trigger travel in Classic mode; in Advanced mode, its app offers over 60 setting variations. Sony describes customizable controls and swappable profiles on the DualSense Edge. These are configuration options, not evidence that one controller is easier or faster to configure.

- HALL EFFECT MAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY: Joysticks and triggers benefit from greatly enhanced precision and durability through magnetic effect, preventing "joystick drift".
- INSTANT ADJUSTABLE TRIGGERS: With precision micro-switch components for ultra-reactive gameplay. Plus, four vibration motors - two in the handles and two in the triggers.
- HIGH PERFORMANCE PC MODE: Ultra-low latency reduced to 1ms with wired connection and 2ms with wireless connection, Gyroscope function to simulate a joystick or the D-pad. Mapping of PC keyboard keys to controller buttons.
- EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL CUSTOMIZATION: With a 4-way and 6-way D-pad, 3 sets of weights, 3 sets of joystick heads (concave, convex, high-dome), 2 sets of joystick rings (medium, large), a storage case, and more than 60 customization combinations.
- ADVANCED SOFTWARE CUSTOMIZATIONS VIA LCD SCREEN: Easy and intuitive customization, mapping programming, and audio source mixing right on the controller.
For PC use, Sony says the Edge can connect by USB or Bluetooth. Its PC notes say some haptics and adaptive-trigger features may require USB, and the function buttons only switch profiles already stored on the controller. Check the game and connection method if a particular feature matters to your setup. Sony’s PC and feature notes explain these caveats.
Will you use the controller on PS4 or PC?
Nacon lists the Revolution 5 Pro for PS5, PS4 and PC. Its support FAQ says PC games must support XInput, and Mac is not supported. For wireless console play, it uses the included dedicated receiver rather than connecting to the console through Bluetooth. Nacon says Bluetooth is for audio peripherals, and a replacement receiver is not interchangeable with other dongles. That is worth considering if you expect to use the controller across devices or might need to replace its receiver.

- Officially licensed by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. & a PlayStation Official Licensed Product
Sony documents the DualSense Edge for PC over USB or Bluetooth. The PC feature limitations are relevant if you expect to use its haptics, adaptive triggers or function buttons away from PS5. For either controller, check the particular game and platform rather than assuming that every control feature works everywhere.
Battery, waking the console and repair options
Battery figures are not a head-to-head comparison
Nacon estimates 10 hours or more of play for the Revolution 5 Pro, depending on power settings. This is the manufacturer’s estimate, not an independent test. Sony’s reviewed DualSense Edge page does not state a comparable battery figure, so the available figures do not show which controller lasts longer. Nacon’s product page gives its estimate.

Console wake-up behavior
Nacon says only a Sony DualSense can wake a PS4 or PS5. If you choose the Revolution 5 Pro, plan to turn on the console another way rather than expecting its controller button to wake it.
Replacement parts
Sony identifies a replaceable stick module for the DualSense Edge. Nacon says spare parts will be available through its portal, but its product FAQ’s “stay tuned” wording does not establish present stock or pricing. Check each manufacturer’s current parts information before relying on a repair option. Nacon’s product FAQ and Sony’s Edge page describe their respective repair paths.
Which PS5 controller should you choose?
Choose the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro if…
- You prefer an asymmetric stick layout.
- You specifically want Hall effect sticks and triggers, adjustable trigger travel, or four rear shortcut buttons.
- You want one controller listed for PS5, PS4 and XInput-compatible PC games, and can work within its receiver and platform limitations.
- You are comfortable giving up vibration and haptics in PS5 games, adaptive triggers, and the ability to wake the console with the controller.
Choose the DualSense Edge if…
- You want haptics and adaptive triggers in PS5 games that support them.
- You prefer the DualSense-style layout and want customizable controls with swappable profiles.
- You value Sony’s identified replaceable stick module.
- You plan to use it on PC and are willing to account for the USB and stored-profile caveats for some features.
Comfort remains individual: the listed features cannot establish which controller will feel better in your hands. For many PS5 players, the choice comes down to whether Hall effect controls and the Nacon’s layout outweigh the Edge’s supported DualSense effects.
