What happened to Myron Gardner?
Gardner injured his left ankle in the California Classic opener in San Francisco. He played seven minutes before exiting, according to Anthony Chiang’s July 8, 2026 Miami Herald report republished by Yahoo Sports.
The report said Gardner returned to Miami for continued treatment and would miss the Las Vegas Summer League. It did not provide a rehabilitation timetable or a medical clearance date.
What did the Heat say about his absence?
Wayne Ellington, the Heat assistant coach who led the team during summer league, said Gardner had worked throughout the offseason and would still have chances to show his development. Ellington described the missed opportunity as difficult for Gardner, while noting that he would have opportunities to get back on the floor.

Did Gardner return by October 3, 2026?
A RotoWire player listing showed October 3, 2026 as an estimated return date. That is an estimate from a secondary listing, not evidence that Gardner appeared in a game, received medical clearance, or was officially available. The sources available here do not confirm a return on that date.
The NBA player profile identifies Gardner as a Miami Heat forward and shows his 2025–26 game log through April 12, 2026. It does not establish his post-injury availability.

What is confirmed—and what is not?

- Reported estimate: RotoWire listed October 3, 2026 as an estimated return date.
- Not confirmed by these sources: a return to game action, medical clearance, or a current official injury designation.
For a current availability decision, check the Heat’s latest official status or game report; injury designations can change quickly. A February 18, 2026 Miami Herald roster report said the Heat promoted Gardner to a standard contract, but that earlier roster move does not verify his present playing status.
