The chart looked plausible in the code, but the browser drew the same data series twice. The coding agent had already marked the task complete; the defect became obvious only when the page was opened. That gap—between code that appears sound and an interface that actually works—is why Abhinav Pangaria tried making verification a separate step in his agent workflow.
What went wrong with the chart
Pangaria reports that a performance chart rendered one data series twice, leaving overlapping traces with different visual weights. The pipeline and chart call looked structurally reasonable during a quick code review, but the rendered page showed the duplication. He also describes layout differences in an alerts panel in the same dashboard project.

The key failure was not simply a charting bug. The agent reported completion before anyone checked whether the browser output matched the requirement. Source review can catch many mistakes, but it cannot establish that a rendered interface is correct.
How the verification loop was meant to work
Pangaria describes GuardianKane, a task-tracking and verification workflow for Claude Code. Its task states distinguish a coding agent’s claim from a verified result: a task can move through IN_PROGRESS and CLAIMED_DONE, while KANE_VERIFIED is reserved for work that passes checks.

When the agent tries to stop with a task claimed done, a Stop hook invokes Kane CLI against a running development server in headless Chrome. The described workflow runs two checks for each task:
- Scripted replay: The browser replays a test written for that task, checking the interactions and assertions anticipated by its author.
- Exploratory defect sweep: A browser agent is asked in free text to inspect for visual defects, layout problems, missing elements, console errors, and mismatches with the requirement.
If a check fails, the hook blocks the agent from stopping and tells it to return the task to IN_PROGRESS, address the problem, and claim completion again. In Pangaria’s account, the coding agent can therefore receive browser feedback before yielding control, rather than relying solely on a later review.

What each browser check can—and cannot—establish
| Check | What it examines | Repeatability and blind spots | When feedback arrives in this workflow |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scripted replay | Predefined interactions and assertions authored for the task. | Repeatable when the same scenario is run, but it cannot catch a condition its author did not encode. | During the described stop-hook verification. |
| Exploratory visual sweep | Visual and layout defects, missing elements, console errors, and apparent requirement mismatches. | Can look beyond written assertions, but open-ended inspection is less deterministic and may not detect every defect. | During the same described stop-hook verification. |
| Later CI or review feedback | Whatever checks or review a project runs after the agent’s work. | Depends on the project’s coverage and review process; it does not automatically test visual requirements that were never included. | After the coding agent has handed off the work. |
These checks complement each other; Pangaria does not present them as a measured head-to-head comparison. Scripted tests are strongest when requirements can be expressed as repeatable assertions. An exploratory sweep may surface unanticipated presentation problems, but its open-ended nature makes it harder to treat as exhaustive proof.
What Pangaria’s project comparison shows
Pangaria reports four paired builds using the same product requirements document (PRD) for an unassisted Claude Code run and a run through the GuardianKane loop. The projects included a todo app, two booking projects, and ORBITAL, a dense portfolio dashboard. In the unassisted ORBITAL build, he reports the duplicated chart series and alerts-panel layout differences.

- Clear visuals. Fluid motion: A 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT deliver smooth, tear‑free motion across work, gaming, and streaming for clearer, more fluid viewing.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star* certification reduces harmful blue light while preserving stunning color quality without compromise. *TÜV Rheinland 3-star eye comfort certification.
- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
For the gated ORBITAL build, Pangaria reports that 12 tasks reached KANE_VERIFIED. One visual sweep failed on the alerts panel despite the scripted tests passing. He says that was the only failure in that build representing a real app problem, but the log does not record enough detail to establish exactly what the sweep detected.
That distinction matters: the account does not show that the gate caught the duplicated chart and forced a correction. It reports a chart defect in the unassisted build and a visual-sweep failure on the alerts panel in the gated build, without evidence connecting the gate to a chart fix.

- INCREASED VERSATILITY: Connect to more; Plug devices straight into your monitor for increased flexibility, making your computing environment even more convenient
The comparison also changed more than the verification gate. Pangaria says the gated build’s PRD was clarified before coding and its tasks were scoped to PRD sections. With four pairs and those process differences, the comparison cannot isolate whether the browser checks, clearer requirements, task scoping, or another factor explains the results. It is a project-specific account, not a controlled benchmark or proof of a general reliability improvement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy a separate completion claim matters
A coding agent’s status update is evidence that it believes it finished, not evidence that the browser output meets the requirement. Pangaria summarizes his view: “An agent saying "done" is an assertion with no evidence attached.” His workflow attempts to make the distinction operational: the agent may claim completion, but a separate check must pass before the task is marked verified.

That approach is useful only to the extent that the checks match the work. A scripted replay can confirm expected behavior for its authored scenario; a visual sweep can add a broader inspection; neither guarantees that every requirement or defect has been covered. The practical lesson is to define what counts as done in terms that can be inspected, then verify the rendered interface rather than treating a plausible diff or status message as the result.
What this does—and does not—say about browser verification
Anthropic’s official prompting guidance recommends giving agents tools to verify UI work, including computer-use, browser-use, or browser-automation tools. That supports the general practice of letting an agent inspect an interface in a browser. It does not validate GuardianKane or establish that Pangaria’s gate caused a better chart.
The evidence in this account supports a narrower conclusion: browser checks can be placed inside an agent’s work loop, and a separate verification state can prevent an unsupported completion claim from being treated as verified. Whether that improves outcomes depends on the requirements, the checks, and the evidence recorded when they run.
