The Motorola Razr Fold has a larger stated battery, faster listed charging and a Moto Pen Ultra in the US package; Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is lighter and has a higher-resolution main camera. In the reported US launch-price comparison, the Motorola started about $200 lower. Those figures do not settle which phone lasts longer or takes better photos: the published specifications are not a substitute for comparable independent testing, and current local prices may differ.

How the screens compare
Both phones have large inner displays and cover screens intended for use when folded. The Razr Fold’s inner panel is listed as 8.09 inches, compared with 8.0 inches for Samsung’s. Their resolutions differ slightly, as do the stated panel technologies: LTPO pOLED for Motorola and Dynamic AMOLED 2X for Samsung. These specification labels alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.
On the cover display, Motorola lists a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz, while Samsung lists an adaptive 1–120 Hz range. Maximum and adaptive refresh-rate figures describe different capabilities, so they do not by themselves predict how smooth a particular app will feel or how much battery the screen will use.

Camera specifications: megapixels are not a photo-quality verdict
Samsung lists a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom. Motorola lists three 50 MP rear cameras: wide, ultrawide/macro and periscope telephoto. The specifications identify different camera hardware, but megapixel counts do not establish which phone produces better images. That requires comparable camera testing across lighting, zoom and video conditions.
Battery, charging and portability
Motorola lists a 6,000 mAh battery, 80 W wired charging, 50 W wireless charging and 5 W reverse wireless charging. Samsung lists a 5,000 mAh typical-capacity battery (4,854 mAh rated) and 45 W fast charging. These are manufacturer specifications, not a measured endurance or charging-time comparison. Battery life and time to recharge depend on usage and test conditions, and no comparable test result is established here.

Samsung’s listed weight is 215 g, against 243 g for the Razr Fold—a 28 g difference in the cited specifications. If you carry a phone for long periods or use it one-handed while folded, that paper difference may matter; try the exact model in person if comfort is a deciding factor.

Which one fits your priorities?
- Consider the Razr Fold if the listed larger battery, faster charging specifications, 165 Hz maximum cover-display refresh rate or included Moto Pen Ultra in the US package are priorities. Verify package contents in your region.
- Consider the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if its 28 g lower listed weight, 200 MP main-camera specification or Samsung’s foldable software experience better match your needs. The camera specification is not proof of better photos.
- Compare exact local offers before deciding. The reported launch-price gap can change with storage, discounts, carrier terms and taxes.
- Check ownership details that specifications do not answer: software preferences, warranty coverage, service availability and the exact model sold in your market.
