Performance, RAM and storage
The India configuration pairs the Dimensity 7300 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. RAM Boost can raise the figure to “24 GB”, but that extra memory is borrowed from storage. It is not physical RAM and should not be compared directly with phones that have 24 GB of real memory.

Does the Moto G86 support microSD? Yes. Motorola’s support page lists expansion up to 1 TB, so the phone has storage headroom beyond the built-in 256 GB. The phone uses one nano-SIM plus an eSIM, so check how the card tray is arranged on your unit.

Display
The panel measures 6.67 inches and runs at 2712 × 1220 (446 ppi). Motorola lists HDR10+, 10-bit color, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz. The 4,500-nit figure is Motorola’s stated HDR peak brightness. It is not a measured full-screen or sustained brightness, so expect much lower levels in everyday use. Motorola UK describes the panel as Super HD pOLED, while the India page says AMOLED, so panel terminology differs by market page.
Battery and charging
The India listing gives a 5,200 mAh battery and 30 W TurboPower charging. Motorola claims up to 41 hours of battery life. That is an approximate manufacturer claim, not screen-on time and not an independent test. Motorola notes that real results depend on signal strength, network and device settings, temperature, battery condition and usage.
Size, weight and build
The phone measures 161.21 × 74.74 × 7.87 mm and weighs 185 g. Motorola specifies a plastic frame, a PU vegan-leather back and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the front. Motorola’s user guide points owners to cases and accessories designed for the phone. If you buy one, confirm that the listing names the Moto G86 5G specifically, and not the Power model or another G-series phone, because dimensions and camera layouts differ between models.

- Wireless: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and GPS-family satellite positioning.
- Wired: USB-C with USB 2.0 speeds, which also serves as the headphone connection. No FM radio is listed.
- SIM: one physical SIM plus eSIM.
- Audio: dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
- Network bands: these vary by market. The India list does not guarantee compatibility with carriers elsewhere, so check your carrier’s bands against your regional model’s page.
Water resistance and durability: what the ratings mean
Motorola’s global user guide says the phone was tested under controlled laboratory conditions to IP68 and IP69 (IEC 60529). The stated conditions are:
- Submersion in still, fresh water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
- Protection from powerful, high-temperature water jets for up to 30 seconds.
Motorola also says resistance decreases with normal wear, warns against exposure to liquids other than fresh water, and advises not to charge a wet phone. The guide states plainly: “Not waterproof.” It also says the phone is not designed to work while submerged, so treat the rating as protection against accidents, not a reason to use it underwater.
The India page also lists MIL-STD 810H. It does not state a specific drop-height promise, so don’t read it as unconditional ruggedness.
Moto G86 5G vs Moto G86 Power 5G
These are separate models. Motorola UK’s support listing gives the Power version a larger battery and more storage than the standard model’s India listing.
| Spec | Moto G86 5G (Motorola India) | Moto G86 Power 5G (Motorola UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 5,200 mAh | 6,720 mAh |
| Storage | 256 GB | 512 GB |
The two figures come from different regional pages, so other differences, such as RAM, charging speed or weight, should be checked against the exact listing for your market rather than assumed from this table. Never carry the Power’s battery or storage figures over to the standard G86 5G.
What these sources don’t settle
The Motorola pages used here don’t establish pricing, availability, camera performance, or independent benchmark and battery tests. This article therefore makes no value or performance ranking. For purchase decisions, check the current listing in your country for the price, bands, SIM setup and package contents.
