You can play Monster Hunter Rise on a phone by streaming the PC game through Steam Link; the documented route is not a native phone version. Start with Steam Link’s touch overlay or connect a compatible controller, then adjust brightness and the PC game’s graphics settings on the host computer. No single touch layout or graphics preset is established as best for every setup.
How to play Monster Hunter Rise on a phone
Valve’s Steam Remote Play documentation describes streaming Steam games to a phone or tablet with the Steam Link app. In this setup, the game runs on the host PC and its picture and controls are streamed to your phone.

This is different from a native mobile release. Capcom announced Monster Hunter Now as a separate game for iOS and Android; it is not Monster Hunter Rise. The official materials cited here do not establish a native Rise phone app or a Rise-specific Steam Link touch layout.
Choose touch controls or a physical controller
Steam Link can display an on-screen touch controller when you launch the app without a controller. Valve says you can create and customize your touch controller using the app’s controls. Once connected, open the upper-left menu to change mouse mode and show, hide, or rearrange the on-screen controls. See Steam Link touch controls support for the app’s instructions.

| Input option | Best fit if you want | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Link touch controls | To play using the phone screen, without a separate controller. | You can change the overlay’s visibility and layout. The cited documentation does not specify an objectively best Rise layout. |
| Physical controller | Tactile buttons and sticks instead of on-screen inputs. | Check compatibility with both your phone and Steam Link setup before buying or connecting one. |
Capcom notes that some game controls can be changed in Options and points players to Hunter Info for more control guidance. Button prompts and available options vary by platform, so consult the manual for the version you are playing rather than assuming console button labels map directly to Steam Link’s phone overlay.
Graphics settings to change first
Graphics changes are made in Rise on the host PC, not through a documented phone-side Rise settings menu. Capcom’s Windows manual lists brightness, resolution, display frequency, framerate cap, V-Sync, and advanced graphics settings. It does not prescribe one ideal configuration for every PC or streamed session.

- Set brightness. Adjust it while looking at the phone in the lighting where you expect to play, so the image is readable without making it unnecessarily bright.
- Reduce demanding settings if the host struggles. Lower advanced graphics options and, if needed, resolution; then see whether the PC can sustain the framerate cap you selected. Capcom’s Steam troubleshooting guidance recommends turning down graphics settings when performance is poor.
- Change V-Sync or the framerate cap only for a reason. These settings affect the host game’s display behavior and performance target. The cited documentation does not establish one setting as best for every PC and stream.
- Use DLSS only with supported hardware. Capcom’s manual describes NVIDIA DLSS as a way to boost frame rates or image quality and specifies that it requires an NVIDIA RTX graphics card. It is not a universal mobile setting.
Capcom’s warning that mobile GPUs can perform substantially worse than regular GPUs concerns mobile GPUs in PCs; it is not a benchmark for a phone streaming Rise from a host PC. The cited sources provide no measured phone-streaming frame rates or tested graphics presets, so results depend on the host and setup.

Keep the game’s identity and settings straight
Steam Link supplies the phone-streaming and input layer; Capcom’s Windows manual documents settings for the PC game. Neither source establishes that Rise has native phone controls or a phone-specific graphics preset. For controls and options that differ by platform, use the manual matching your version of the game.
