The announced design combines action combat, yokai purification, village restoration and caring for Taiki’s puppy, Musashi. The details below separate confirmed store information from features that have not been announced, such as console versions, multiplayer, a physical edition or pricing.

This is a pre-release FAQ, not a review. The combat feel, performance and final content cannot be judged until a playable version is available.
Platform and release timing
Steam is the only confirmed platform
The current English official site lists Steam as the supported platform. Steam’s own store page carries the same PC focus and supplies Windows system requirements. That makes Steam the only platform that can be stated as confirmed at present.

Records on other websites may mention Switch, PlayStation, iOS or Android, but those are not current official announcements covered by the game’s official page or store listing. Treat those entries as unconfirmed rather than as evidence of planned ports. A console or mobile version should only be described as confirmed after Lights-Interactive or Happinet publishes one.
2027 is the current target
Both the official site and the Steam page now show 2027 as the planned release year. Steam also labels the game “not yet available,” so there is no normal purchase or full-release download to install at this time.
An earlier Happinet announcement dated September 18, 2025 referred to an Autumn 2026 launch window. That historical target has been superseded by the current 2027 information. If you encounter the 2026 date in an older article, read it as a previous plan, not the present schedule.

The Steam page includes a request option for playtest access. You can submit a request through the store page and Steam can notify you if the developer opens participation. A request is not a reservation, guaranteed invitation or promise of immediate access; it simply places your account in consideration for any future test the developer chooses to run.
Is Mononoke no Kuni single-player?
Yes. Steam’s feature list marks Mononoke no Kuni as single-player. The announced adventure follows Taiki and his puppy, Musashi, through a world of myths and yokai, which fits a solo story structure.

No co-operative campaign, online party mode, competitive mode or other multiplayer feature is identified in the current official information. That is different from saying multiplayer is impossible: it means no such support has been announced, so buyers should not expect it unless a later update says otherwise.
What do you do in the game?
Follow Taiki and Musashi
The official story setup places Taiki alongside Musashi, his puppy, in a setting shaped by Japanese myths and yokai. Musashi is not described merely as a visual companion. Steam specifically says players care for him during the adventure, making the relationship part of the announced experience.

Fight with action-based defenses
Steam describes combat built around several direct actions:
- Charge attacks: Build and release stronger offensive moves rather than relying only on basic strikes.
- Dodges: Move out of danger and avoid incoming attacks.
- Guards: Hold a defensive position against attacks.
- Parries: Time a defensive response to counter an opponent’s move.
These are features announced in the store description, not results from independent hands-on testing. The listing does not provide frame timings, weapon statistics, enemy counts, upgrade trees or a complete control scheme, so those details should not be assumed.

Purify yokai with an ōnusa
Yokai purification is a separate pillar of the adventure. The store description says Taiki uses an ōnusa, a ritual purification wand, to cleanse yokai. This gives the supernatural encounters a purpose beyond defeating enemies through ordinary attacks. The available listing does not explain the full purification sequence, whether different yokai require different tactics, or how this system connects to progression.
Restore villages
The announced world also includes village restoration. Steam says players help restore villages, suggesting that activities extend beyond combat and travel. The listing does not yet specify a construction menu, resource economy, settlement count or whether restoration changes quests and story outcomes. Those systems should be treated as details still to be revealed.
Care for Musashi
Caring for Musashi is named alongside combat, purification and restoration. The store page does not publish a list of feeding, training, grooming or bonding actions, so it is safest to describe this as an announced care element rather than assign it a specific pet-simulation system.
Casual mode and the no-stamina description
Steam says, “A casual mode is also available, so you can enjoy the story and your adventure with Musashi at your own pace.” The quote is wording from the Steam store description and does not identify a named speaker. The listing also describes combat as having no stamina gauge.
That means the published concept does not require managing a conventional stamina meter during attacks, dodges or defensive actions. It does not establish that every action is unlimited, that enemies cannot interrupt attacks or that the final balance will be easy. Casual mode and the no-stamina description are announced design points, not a substitute for hands-on evaluation.

Language support
Steam’s current language table lists 18 supported languages and separates three kinds of support: interface text, subtitles and full audio. Japanese is the only language marked for full audio in that table; it is also marked for interface and subtitles. The other listed languages are marked for interface and subtitles but not full audio.
The official site presents a general list of 17 languages, without the same audio/interface/subtitle breakdown. For the exact count and feature-by-feature availability, the Steam table is the more detailed current reference. Language support can still change before launch, so check the store table again when the release build is available.

Steam provides the following requirements for the Windows version. They are listing specifications, not a benchmark or guarantee of a particular frame rate.

How to interpret the requirements
- The graphics figures refer to the listed GTX 1650 4 GB minimum and GTX 1060 6 GB recommended cards; integrated graphics are not identified as supported.
- The processor recommendations are specific Intel models. Steam does not state equivalent AMD processors in the published table.
- The listed storage figure is 4 GB for both tiers. Reserve additional free space for Steam files, updates and save-data overhead rather than treating 4 GB as a universal installation guarantee.
- The requirements do not state target resolution, frame rate, ray-tracing support, controller support or handheld-PC compatibility.
Because the game is not released, these figures cannot tell you how well it will run on a particular laptop or desktop. Recheck the requirements after launch for any revision and for performance information from independent testing.

What is not confirmed yet?
Console and mobile editions
No current official source in the listing confirms a Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS or Android edition. Steam is the confirmed platform; do not buy hardware or plan a mobile release around third-party database entries.

Physical copies and merchandise
The official site and Steam page do not identify a boxed game, collector’s edition, art book, guidebook, figures or other official merchandise. Happinet is the publisher, but that fact alone does not establish that a physical product will be sold. Any future product announcement should be checked directly with the publisher.
Price and editions
No current price is published. The official site says MSRP is coming soon, so regional pricing, deluxe tiers, pre-order bonuses and downloadable content cannot be stated as facts yet.
Multiplayer and accessories
The single-player label does not announce online services, and neither listing names a required accessory, dedicated controller or special hardware. A standard Windows PC meeting the published requirements is the only stated hardware basis.

How to keep track of the release
- Use the official Mononoke no Kuni site as the primary check for platform, release-year and MSRP changes.
- Follow the Steam store page for availability status, playtest notifications, language-table revisions and updated PC requirements.
- When a date appears in an older article, compare it with the current 2027 listing before making travel, purchase or time-off plans.
- Read any later announcement for the exact scope of a demo or playtest; requesting access does not guarantee entry.
Who should be interested now?
The current information will appeal most to players who want a solo, myth-inspired action adventure and are comfortable waiting for a 2027 PC release. The combination of defensive combat, ritual purification, village restoration and a companion-care element points to a game that mixes action with quieter world activities.
Players seeking a game they can buy today, a confirmed console version, co-op play or a published price have no official basis for those expectations yet. The sensible approach is to treat Mononoke no Kuni as an announced Steam title, follow the two current listings, and reassess when the developer publishes a firm date and final specifications.
