The right fix depends on which Call of Duty release you mean. Activision’s exact-message guidance applies to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered: if you left your original party after playing multiple public matches, every party member must reboot the game before you try to rejoin. A different error, Status: SAVANNAH, has been reported in the 2019 Modern Warfare and may involve mismatched game versions.
First, identify the game and the exact error
“Modern Warfare” can mean several releases, and the same troubleshooting advice does not necessarily apply to each one. Check the game’s full title and note whether the message is exactly “Unable to Join Game Session” or includes a status code such as SAVANNAH.

Fix the party-rejoin issue in Modern Warfare Remastered
Activision says that after playing multiple public matches and leaving your initial party, you cannot rejoin that same party until all party members have rebooted the game. The FAQ is dated November 22, 2019, and applies specifically to Modern Warfare Remastered.
- Have every member of the party close and reboot the game.
- Once everyone has restarted, try joining the original party again.

If Modern Warfare (2019) shows Status: SAVANNAH
Historical guides for the 2019 release associate SAVANNAH with a possible game-version discrepancy or an unapplied hotfix. Restarting the game and checking that both players are running compatible, updated versions are reasonable first checks, but these are reported historical troubleshooting steps—not a verified current Activision fix or a guaranteed solution.

- Check that both players have installed available game updates and are on compatible versions.

If neither case matches your error
If you are playing another Modern Warfare release, do not see SAVANNAH, or have not left the original party after multiple public matches, the available guidance here does not identify a current release- and platform-specific remedy. Confirm the full game title, platform, complete error wording, and whether the other players can join a different session before seeking support specific to that release. Router changes, port forwarding, VPNs, reinstalling, or buying hardware or services are not established solutions for this error by the cited guidance.
